The modern digital cockpit and infotainment features in the Bayon have been further enhanced thanks to the introduction of Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates. This allows the driver to update the map and media software in the model without having to go to the dealer.

Infotainment

Standard features of the updated Hyundai Bayon include a 4.2-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch Multimedia screen with navigation. The 10.25-inch configurable digital instrument panel offers various graphics, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging. The navigation system also benefits from Hyundai’s Bluelink infotainment and map updates.

USB Paradise

Two USB-C ports – one in the front and one in the back – make it even easier to charge multiple devices simultaneously. The front USB-A port also enables data transfer, allowing occupants to connect their smartphones to the car’s infotainment system. Also present: a Bose sound system with eight speakers (including a subwoofer). For even greater comfort, the incandescent bulbs in the interior have been replaced with LED technology, and multi-colored LED ambient lighting can be optionally selected in the front.

Driver assistance systems

The Hyundai Bayon has several driver assistance systems. Autonomous Lane Assist (LFA) keeps the car in the center of the lane. Emergency Brake Assist (FCA) first provides a warning signal and then, if necessary, brakes the car to help prevent an accident. This feature includes detection of cars, pedestrians, cyclists as well as cross traffic, allowing FCA to brake the car if the driver turns left at an intersection while a car is approaching. Another advanced feature is Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), which uses information from the navigation system in the car to autonomously adjust speed as needed.

Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA) has multiple sensors around the car that help prevent a collision at the rear of the Bayon during lane changes. As soon as BCA detects an imminent collision with a car diagonally behind the BAYON when the turn signal is turned on, the system will alert the driver.

The Bayon is also equipped with several features related to driver attention. For example, Driver Attention Warning (DAW) analyzes whether the driver is alert and provides a warning if the driver shows signs of impaired attention. DAW works in conjunction with the Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA), which alerts the driver when the vehicle resumes driving immediately ahead of the BAYON.

Second-generation eCall for Hyundai Bayon

The updated Bayon also features second-generation eCall, based on the 4G network, which automatically alerts emergency services in the event of an accident as soon as the airbags are deployed. Occupants can also alert emergency services themselves with a single push of the emergency button.

Hyundai will announce more details about its introduction in the Netherlands soon. It uses a 1.0 T-GDI 48V turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission (iMT) or 7DCT automatic transmission. The engine delivers 73.6 kW (100 hp).
