Spotted: a 1985 Honda Civic CRX
Combining reliable engineering, low weight and sporty handling, the Honda Civic CRX has been popular with those looking for an affordable sporty car since its introduction.
Not surprisingly, the second generation was merely an evolution of the first.
Then the del Sol continued the success for a while, albeit with a very different type of bodywork.
In this article, we tell you all about the different Honda CRX models.
Honda Civic CRX has become rare
Honda Civic CRX models were also quite popular in the Netherlands, but the model has now reached youngtimer or even oldtimer age.
Also, by no means all examples have outlived their mostly young, sporty drivers.
In short, if you still come across a Honda CRX in Dutch traffic in 2024, it is something special.
Sometimes you get lucky.
Earlier this year we saw another one of the second generation and now it is the turn of the first model.
The spotted specimen
In the northern Dutch village of Blokker, we saw this 1985 Honda Civic CRX 1.5.
So it is a rather early specimen.
The car has been in the Netherlands since 2020.
At least, that’s what the RDW indicates.
The remarkable thing is that the car really does have a license plate from 1994.
Who can explain to us how that is?
Like almost all other remaining Honda CRX’, this one is not quite in its original condition, but fortunately the customization is not that bad.
Apart from the peeling coating on the panel above the grille, it still looks very nice and clean.
