Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years stylishly celebrates 50 years of 911 Turbo

August 16, 2024

1,974 copies

Yep, Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo.
The brand is doing so with this 911 Turbo 50 Years.
The Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is based on the current generation of the 911 Turbo S. The edition of the model is limited to 1,974 units, a reference to the year in which the first 911 Turbo – internally referred to by the model name 930 – debuted at the Paris Motor Show.

This is how you recognize the 911 Turbo 50 Years version

The standard accents on the flanks of the anniversary version are a nod to the historic decals of the Porsche 911 RSR Turbo, the forerunner of the 911 Turbo that Porsche showed at the 1973 IAA in Frankfurt.
Turbonite, the elegant metallic-gray hue developed specifically to make the Turbo models even more recognizable, is used for the first time on a 911 in this limited edition.
The color is found on inlays in the engine cover, fuel filler cap and Porsche emblem, among others.
Turbonite is also found as a contrasting color in the Turbo 50 model logo.
Another historical reference is the use of Anthracite Grey.
The 911 Turbo 50 Years comes standard with the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Design wheels finished in Turbonite.

Interior Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years

The interior of the 911 Turbo 50 Years is also brimming with Turbo history.
As an exclusive tribute to the early Porsche 930, the iconic tartan fabric adorns the center panels of the seats and door panels.
Additional contrasts in Turbonite further distinguish the car from the regular 911 Turbo S models.
Turbonite accents include the seat belts, controls, stitching, trim strips with decorative inlays in black leather and the Porsche emblem on the GT sports steering wheel.

In addition, an illuminated Turbo 50 logo adorns the door sill panels finished in black brushed aluminum.
Logos are embroidered into the headrests of the Adaptive Sport Plus seats.
Above the glove box is an anniversary plaque in aluminum, featuring both the Turbo 50 logo and the unique production number of the anniversary version.
The A-pillars, sun visors and headliner are covered in Race-Tex.
An analog clock on the dashboard, designed by Porsche Design, features a special design in honor of the Turbo’s 50th anniversary.

Optional 50 Years of Turbo Heritage Design package

The optionally available 50 Years of Turbo Heritage Design Package complements the anniversary model with exclusive design and equipment features that reference the 911 Turbo models of the 1970s.
The base color of the Heritage Design Package is Aventuring Green Metallic.
Alternatively, standard 911 colors and paints from the Paint to Sample program are also available.
Part of the Heritage Design Package is a high-quality decoration in white (satin finish) consisting of three elements: a starting number from 0-99 on the doors, the 50 years of Turbo logo and a Porsche logo.

Porsche drivers who prefer a minimalist look can forgo some or all of the graphics.
The historic 1964 Porsche emblem is used on the front cover and on the hub caps of the Sport Classic rims painted in Brilliant Silver and white (satin finish).
The Turbo 50 and Porsche logos on the rear are done in gold color.
In the interior, complementary leather and additional elements in tartan fabric round out this version of the anniversary model.
The dials in the instrument cluster and the Sport Chrono Stopwatch in the Heritage Design Package are finished in classic green, a reference to the original Porsche 911.

Powertrain

Technically, the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is based on the 911 Turbo S. No technical changes have been made.
The 3.7-liter boxer engine with VTG bi-turbocharger delivers 478 kW (650 hp) and 800 Nm of torque.
With an unladen weight of 1,640 kilograms, this results in a power-to-weight ratio of 2.52 kg/hp.
The 911 Turbo 50 takes just 2.7 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and reaches 200 km/h in just 8.9 seconds.
Power is transmitted to the wheels via the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive system with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).

A sport exhaust system with black tailpipes is standard.
The 10-millimeter lower Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension and elevator system on the front axle are also standard, as are LED matrix headlights, including the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus.
The calipers of the standard PCCB ceramic brake system are painted black.

Do you also take the watch?

Exclusive to owners of the 911 Turbo 50 Years, Porsche Design Timepieces is releasing a special watch in tribute to the anniversary model.
Like the car, the watch is limited to 1,974 copies and combines classic design accents with modern technology.
The black dial with elements in Turbonite strikingly resembles the clockwork on the dashboard.
The transparent case offers a view of the winding rotor in the same style as the rims of the 911 Turbo 50.
The limited edition number engraved on the titanium case equals the unique production number of the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years.
The chronograph is also available in a special version in conjunction with the Heritage Design Package.

Fall 2024

The limited 911 Turbo 50 Years can be ordered from today, deliveries start in the fall of 2024.
The model is already on display now at the special exhibition “Beyond Performance – 50 Years of Porsche Turbo” at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
