New Hyundai Kona: another Hyundai with striking design

December 20, 2022

Hyundai Kona 2023

Who would have ever thought that: market a concept car that everyone thinks is cool and everyone thinks it is… cool! We are, of course, talking about the Ioniq 5. The large hatchback could so figure in a remake of Back to the Future. The equally futuristic Ioniq 6 has been waiting behind the scenes to make its debut, and now the Koreans are announcing yet another model that seems to have been wheeled straight out of the year 2100: the all-new Kona.

Pixels

The new Kona has an ultramodern look, with Cybertruck-like daytime running lights running the entire width of the front end. The headlights are placed all the way to the sides of the front bumper, making the Kona appear optically wider – and therefore tougher. A large LED strip with a pixel motif also runs on the back. Hyundai has clearly applied the 8-bit design language of the Ioniq models and the Staria to the Kona. Even the wheels have a pixel-inspired design.

Versions

The new model comes in several versions, including all-electric (EV), hybrid-electric (HEV) and as a sporty N Line. Each variant has its own styling. Hyundai is not yet willing to say anything about the specifications of the different powertrains.

Interior

The new Kona is 4.35 meters long, making it 15 cm longer than its predecessor. It is also 2.5 cm wider and the wheelbase has grown by 6 cm. As a result, Hyundai says the new Kona offers more interior living space. In a released photo, we can see a large display in the front, incorporating the infotainment system and a digital cockpit. For fans of physical buttons – we raise our hand – we have good news: by the looks of it, they are still plentiful. In the coming months, Hyundai will reveal more details about the all-new Kona.
