Humor: Dacia gives away seat heating for free
No frills at Dacia
Dacia is kind of the no-nonsense brand after all. No frills, what you see is what you get. This is paying off, as Dacia’s models are unstoppable, especially the Sandero, Duster and new Jogger. The demand for these models is extremely high.
Free seat heating, how about that?
You simply get a lot of car for your money with Dacia. Seat heating is, of course, not to be missed. To that, the brand has come up with the following: free seat heating. Anyone visiting any of the three Dacia dealerships in London, Manchester or Swansea will receive a genuine Dacia jug from the sales staff.
Dacia seat heating, particularly effective
That way you are already warming up to driving a new Sandero, Duster or Jogger, is the idea. You can also think of it as free seat heating, as there is no more effective method than filling a pitcher with boiling hot water. You’ll enjoy that the whole ride.
Monthly subscription big nonsense
Luke Broad, Dacia’s British spokesman, also sees Dacia’s juggernaut as a bit of a funny statement against brands that offer seat heaters in the form of a monthly subscription. Wink BMW. “Asking someone to pay extra to activate a factory-fitted feature is certainly not Dacia. We believe in simplicity and offer our customers technology that makes driving easier and more comfortable, with features included in the initial price of a car.”
Does BMW really charge extra for seat heaters?
But is it actually true that BMW is going to charge monthly for activating the seat heater? Yes and no. BMW owners do not have to pay a subscription fee for seat heaters or other options
ordered at the time of purchase
. BMW models ordered with seat heating, have seat heating, so you don’t have to pay more for that. Still, things are changing at BMW. We explain.
BMW ConnectedDrive Store
However, it is possible to expand the range of in-car services through the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. Customers can thus try whether they want to continue using certain features. Once the upgrade is done, the BMW owner only pays for the extra features based on how much you want to use them.
Post-orderable options through the BMW ConnectedDrive Store are:
- Driving Assistant Plus
- Parking Assistant Professional
- High beam assist
- Steering wheel heater
- Seat heating
- Remote Engine Start
Wait a minute, seat heating!?
Indeed, you read it correctly: the above list really does include seat heating. So you can pay for seat heaters? True, but that only applies to new models with the latest infotainment systems. In particular, BMW’s latest models are equipped with all systems. Even if you don’t check seat heating on the options list, BMW still installs the system at the factory. So it can still be activated afterwards. More and more car manufacturers are moving in this direction to provide a car directly with all the conveniences, which also saves in the complexity of the production process, because it makes all cars easier to produce. Volkswagen also does it with the Golf and ID models. The cost of BMW seat heating depends on the period selected.
Cost of seat heater subscription* at BMW
- 1 month trial: free
- 1 month: 19.00 euros
- 1 year: 189.00 euros
- 3 years: 289.00 euros
- Unlimited: 419.00 euros
*Whetherthe feature is available to you depends on the built-in hardware in your BMW. Depending on the car, it is already installed at the factory free of charge.
I want a Dacia with seat heating
Now of course Dacia’s juggernaut is a nice PR stunt by Dacia UK. Of course, Dacia models can also be ordered with real seat heaters. By the way, on a Sandero, Duster or Jogger it will cost you 300 euros (front seats only). Then the price difference with BMW is not so bad, is it?
