Volkswagen Id5

Volkswagen is seriously working on fully electrically powered models. After the e-Up and e-Golf appeared earlier, the brand even presented a fully electric sub-brand in 2016: the ID model line. In terms of design, in fact, similar to the (almost) fully electric i-sub brand from BMW. They kicked off with the Volkswagen ID Concept and the ID Buzz, ID Cross, ID Vizzion, race car ID R, ID Buggy and ID Roomzz have since been followed. All still concept cars, although some are already functioning.

Volkswagen ID.5 in production

The first production version was the ID.3, an all-electric alternative to the Golf, at a comparable price. The second model is the ID.4, introduced at the end of 2020. As the name suggests, it is a larger model. You could see the ID.4 as the all-electric alternative to the Tiguan. The model range was further expanded at the beginning of 2022 with the ID.5. The ID.5 is in fact the ‘coupé version’ of the ID.4, or an SUV with a more sloping roofline. This is slightly at the expense of the main and luggage space in the back, but it does look sportier and, thanks to the better streamline, the range is slightly better.

Nice and practical

The ID.4 is more or less the production version of the ID.CROZZ concept car and shares its technical basis with the ID.3. The same also applies to the ID5. With space for five passengers and a luggage space of 549 to 1,561 liters, the ID.4 is very practical. In addition, depending on the version, it offers a theoretical range of more than 500 kilometers.
