The history of BMW’s Z models begins in 1989, with the introduction of the quirky Z1. The roadster stood out not only with its styling, but also with the doors that sank into the sills instead of opening conventionally. The sheet metal could also be exchanged with relatively little effort if you preferred the car in a different color.

From Z to Z
The Z1 remains in production until 1991, after which it is quiet for a few years until the Z3 appears on the scene in 1995. This brand’s first mass-production roadster was much loved by the general public and lasted until 2002, when the car was succeeded by the first Z4. In between, the exclusive BMW Z8 was also in the delivery program from 2000 to 2003.
Car sharing
The Z4 has now arrived in the third generation in 2018. That is a completely new model, developed in collaboration with Toyota, which is coming with a new Supra. A special feature is that the new Z4 can not only be opened with the ‘old-fashioned’ key, but also with a smartphone. Handy if you want to share the car with friends.
