Unleash the power of the new Lamborghini Urus

May 30, 2024

The original Lamborghini Urus marked the brand’s entry into the modern high-performance SUV sector. The 2025 Lamborghini Urus goes one step further with the introduction of electrification. The new Urus SE features a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that combines a 4.0-liter V8 with a 192-hp electric motor, resulting in an impressive 580 kW (789 hp). In addition to its impressive performance, the Urus SE also offers an improved torque curve and the option of an all-electric driving mode. This makes the Urus SE an innovative and versatile addition to Lamborghini’s iconic SUV range.

What’s new for 2025?

The 2025 Lamborghini Urus introduces several updates. The new Lamborghini Urus SE model features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 580 kW (789 hp). Exterior innovations include adaptive matrix LED headlights, a powerdome engine cover, a redesigned tailgate with a distinctive center crease and redesigned bumpers and diffusers. Inside, you’ll find a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with enhanced responsiveness and voice controls. Despite these technological advances, the Lamborghini Urus SE retains physical switches and the iconic cage start button. With more than 100 available paint options and new 23-inch Galanthus wheels, the Lamborghini Urus continues to be a standout on the road.

What is the price of the Lamborghini Urus?

Prices for the 2025 Lamborghini Urus vary depending on the model and options:

Model Price (as of)
Urus S € 245.000
Urus Performante € 275.000
Urus SE Hybrid € 275.000

For those seeking maximum performance, the Lamborghini Urus Performante is the best choice with its impressive acceleration. The Lamborghini Urus S offers a great balance of luxury and performance at a slightly lower price. However, the Lamborghini Urus SE Hybrid is the best value for money, with the most horsepower and the versatility of a hybrid powertrain. This model is ideal for buyers who want to experience the benefits of electrification without sacrificing power and speed. Families and everyday drivers benefit from the hybrid efficiency, while performance-oriented drivers enjoy the impressive power and torque curve.

Engine, Transmission and Performance

The Lamborghini Urus offers several powertrains, each with its own character. The Lamborghini Urus S and Performante models are equipped with a 483 kW (657 hp) twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. Delivering a deep roar at idle and a powerful howl under full throttle, this engine accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.

The Lamborghini Urus SE Hybrid adds a 141 kW (192 hp) electric motor to the same V8, giving a combined output of 580 kW (789 hp). Despite Lamborghini’s conservative estimates, we also expect the Lamborghini Urus SE to be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in about 3.4 seconds. All models have an eight-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, providing fantastic acceleration and stability at high speeds. Although the hybrid powertrain offers a more linear torque curve, the added complexity of hybrid technology may deter some who prefer a purely mechanical driving experience.

Fuel consumption

The Lamborghini Urus has never emphasized fuel efficiency. The Lamborghini Urus S and Performante models achieve about 6 km per liter in the city and 8 km per liter on the highway, respectively. The Lamborghini Urus SE Hybrid offers a significant improvement with an expected 17 km per liter in combined driving conditions, thanks to the plug-in hybrid powertrain.

However, in real situations, fuel consumption may vary depending on driving style and conditions. Although the hybrid efficiency is attractive, the limited electric range of about 34 kilometers may be a drawback for some.

Interior, comfort and luggage space

The interior is a visual spectacle, with jet-fighter-like designs and high-end materials such as faux-suede and carbon fiber. The start button under a red flip cover and levers for driving modes add a playful touch. While the infotainment systems are impressive, the dual touch screens can sometimes be less intuitive than traditional buttons. The rear seats provide ample room for passengers, but the optional bucket seats reduce luggage space from 623 to 566 liters. Although the Lamborghini Urus is comfortable, the sporty seats may offer a bit less support on longer trips.

Infotainment and connectivity

Each Lamborghini Urus is richly equipped with the latest infotainment and connectivity features. The all-digital instrument panel and two touchscreens in the center console provide controls for the climate system, audio and more. Although graphics are sharp and icons are large, touchscreens can sometimes be less intuitive than traditional buttons and dials. The standard sound system is fine, but the optional Bang & Olufsen premium audio system takes sound quality to the next level, perfect for music lovers. While the technology is impressive, its complexity can occasionally distract from the driving experience.

Safety features

The Lamborghini Urus offers an array of advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert. An optional night vision camera increases safety in poor visibility. Despite these impressive technologies, the Lamborghini Urus lacks some competitive systems, such as standard self-parking assistance, which is only available as an option. The crashworthiness of the Lamborghini Urus is excellent, but its limited standard three-year warranty with no mileage limitation and lack of free scheduled maintenance may disappoint potential buyers. Overall, the Lamborghini Urus offers good safety, but there is room for improvement in standard equipment and service.

Warranty and maintenance coverage

The Lamborghini Urus’ warranty includes three years without mileage limitation, which is reasonable but not outstanding compared to competitors. Unfortunately, Lamborghini does not offer free scheduled maintenance, which is disappointing for a car in this price range. However, extended warranty and maintenance plans are available at an additional cost. While basic coverage is adequate, buyers of a luxury SUV such as the Lamborghini Urus would expect more in terms of service and support.

Overview

Lamborghini Urus in a forest

The Lamborghini Urus offers a unique blend of power, luxury and technology. Highlights are the impressive performance, especially with the SE Hybrid and the striking design. The Lamborghini Urus interior is luxurious and brimming with technology, although the touchscreens are sometimes less intuitive. The hybrid’s fuel efficiency is a plus, but its limited electric range can be a drawback. Safety features are extensive, but some options are limited. All in all, the Lamborghini Urus remains a top choice for fans of high-performance SUVs, despite some minor shortcomings.
