This is the all-new Volkwagen Tiguan
Success number
The Tiguan is currently the most popular Volkswagen model worldwide. Since it first appeared in 2007, more than 7.5 million have driven out of the showroom. Now it is time for the third generation, which will hit the Dutch market in the first quarter of next year.
New Volkswagen Tiguan
The front of the new Tiguan can be recognized by flat integrated headlights and a glass crossbar between them, which can be fitted with an LED strip at an additional cost. Oook optional IQ.LIGHT HD-matrix headlights are available, an interactive lighting system that is also available for the Touareg. Therefore, both SUVs have similar headlights. The air intakes of the grille are located in the bumper. On the side of the bumper, so-called air-curtains ensure optimal airflow. The streamlined front end provides an improved coefficient of air resistance (cw value) of 0.28, as opposed to the previous version with a value of 0.33.
Robust appearance
At the rear, you can recognize the Tiguan by the distinctive LED light strip and the muscular line above the wheel arches, giving the SUV a robust look. In terms of dimensions, the new Tiguan is 30 mm longer than its predecessor, with a length of 4,539 mm, but it has hardly increased in height, with a height of 1,639 mm. Width (1,842 mm) and wheelbase (2,680 mm) remained unchanged.
Interior
Inside, we detect the latest MIB infotainment system (MIB4) and a Digital Cockpit. MIB4 offers a large horizontal screen for infotainment with a new menu structure and a new head-up display that displays information on the windshield. For those who like comfort, there are optional ergoActive-Plus seats with a massage function with ten pressure points and adjustable lumbar support. You can set at what outside temperatures the seat heating or ventilation automatically turns on.
Powertrains
Volkswagen has further developed the Tiguan’s plug-in hybrid powertrains. The purely electric range of the 204 hp and 272 hp Tiguan eHybrid has been increased to around 100 kilometers thanks to a new 19.7 kWh battery pack (net). In addition, Volkswagen will offer the SUV with two new 48V mild-hybrid powertrains. They produce 130 hp and 150 hp and feature active cylinder deactivation. All hybrid models feature front-wheel drive.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan will enter the Dutch market in the first quarter of next year. Prices and additional specifications will be announced ahead of market launch.
