This armored DS 7 can take a beating

October 10, 2023

President

In collaboration with WELP Group, DS previously released an armored DS 7 for the French president: the DS 7 Élysée. It used the plug-in hybrid DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 300 as a base and was lengthened by about 20 centimeters. The enthusiasm surrounding the DS 7 Élysée paved the way for the development of a small series of armored versions.

Fortifications

The Vauban is the result of a renewed collaboration between DS Automobiles and WELP Group. The model will be assembled by WELP France in Hérimoncourt, where the company has taken over part of a former Stellantis site. The name of the DS 7 Vauban refers to Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, who built a large number of fortifications in France around the end of the 17th century, 12 of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Aramid

The DS 7 Vauban is a driving fortress specifically designed as a secure car based on the DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 300. The model is reinforced with lightweight materials, such as aramid, that are exceptionally resistant to impact and heat. To meet the VPAM 4 protection level, the Vauban is also equipped with safety glass.

Flag holders and fire extinguishers

In addition to all the additional accessories listed in the DS 7 brochure, specific options in the areas of safety, protection, comfort and personalization are available upon request, such as automatic fire extinguishers, a sealed ventilation system, siren, intercom, additional USB ports and reading lights, and options for personalized body colors, interior trim, stitching and flag holders. The first examples of the DS 7 Vauban will be available from April 2024.
