Porsche 911 Carrera T: especially for purists

October 19, 2022

Manual or automatic transmission?

The new Porsche 911 Carrera T has a 7-speed manual transmission as standard, but optionally available with an 8-speed PDK. The rear seats were omitted from the T. With its PASM sports suspension (suspension -10 mm) and reduced isolation, the message is clear that the new 911 Carrera T is a car for purists.

Powertrain Porsche 911 Carrera T

Porsche positions the new 911 Carrera T between the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S. The new version uses the bi-turbo engine with 283 kW (385 hp) and 450 Nm from the 911 Carrera, with which the sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 291 km/h.

Much is standard

Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical limited slip differential on the rear axle comes from the standard version of the Carrera S with manual transmission. The 911 Carrera T also comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package and the PASM sports suspension; options that are available on the 911 Carrera S only at extra cost. Upon request, the Carrera T can also be ordered with the optional rear axle steering, normally reserved for models starting with the Carrera S.

Landmarks

Externally, the T can be identified by the 20-inch large titanium gray Carrera S wheels, with 245/35 ZR 20 tires in the front and 21-inch wheels with 305/30 ZR 21 tires in the rear. In addition, the 911 Carrera T comes standard with a GT sports steering wheel, a sports exhaust system and four-way power-adjustable sports seats.

The lightest

At 1,470 kilograms, the 911 Carrera T with manual transmission is the lightest mass-produced 911 equipped with the base engine. This makes it 35 kilograms lighter than the 911 Carrera with standard 8-speed PDK. This model model unlike the T is not offered with a manual transmission. In addition to the omission of the rear seats and reduced insulation, lightweight glass and a lightweight battery contribute to the lower weight of the new Porsche 911 Carrera T.

Dark gray accents

Outside, the 911 Carrera T stands out from the rest of its family with dark gray accents. Contrasting elements such as the top and bottom scales of the exterior mirrors, the new lettering on the doors, the logo on the tailgate and the slats on the tailgate are finished in agate gray. In addition, the windshield has a gray solar track. The exhaust pipes of the sports exhaust system are finished in high-gloss black.

Interior Porsche 911 Carrera T

The interior features standard four-way adjustable Sports Plus seats, trim strips in matte black and decorative inlays in high-gloss black. Customers who want more personalization can opt for the Carrera T interior package. In that case, the ‘T’ will be equipped with seat belts in the contrasting colors Schiefergrau or Lizardgreen. The same goes for the decorative stitching, the ‘911’ lettering embossed on the headrests and the strips on the center panel of the seats. Optionally, the floor mats can also be lettered and piped in Schiefergrau or Lizardgreen colors.

Options for the interior

For the 911 Carrera T, the adaptive sports seats plus (18-way electrically adjustable) or the lightweight, sporty bucket seats with center panels in RaceTex are optional. The Carrera T interior package is optionally expandable with leather. The door panels including the armrests and center console are then covered with this, as are the upper parts of the dashboard.

Showing color

The new 911 Carrera T is available in a variety of colors. On the menu are four solid colors – Black, White, Indian Red and Racing Yellow – and in four metallic paint colors – Deep Black Metallic, Gentian Blue, Ice Gray and GT Silver. Shades such as Chalk, Stern Rubin neo, Crimson, Shark Blue and Python Green are also available. Buyers of the Porsche 911 Carrera T also have the opportunity to take advantage of Porsche’s “Paint to Sample” program. This program includes more than 110 special paint colors.

The new 911 Carrera T can be ordered immediately and will be at Dutch Porsche Centers from February 2023. The Dutch recommended retail price of the new Porsche 911 Carrera T has been set at 170,100 euros.

The letter ‘T’

The “T” in the model designation of the Porsche 911 Carrera T stands for “Touring. The letter has its origins in the homologation of the 911 T as a touring car in 1968. The first 911 T was offered as an F model until 1973. Then not again until 2017, when Porsche revived the name with the 991 Carrera T. This was another purist 911 variant. Since then, the concept of a Porsche with “T” has been successfully used for the 718 Cayman T, the 718 Boxster T and the Macan T. Now it is the turn of the 911 Carrera T. In November 2018, we drove the previous generation 911 Carrera T.
