The extensive photo report and the story behind this collection can be found here. In this article, we dive deeper into Freerk’s mighty Porsche 918 Spyder.

Specifications

The Porsche 918 Spyder is a masterpiece in terms of technical specifications. The beating heart of the 918 Spyder is a 4.6-liter V8 engine with an output of 608 hp, which is supported by two electric motors on the front and rear axles, together producing 286 hp. The fusion of gasoline and electricity results in a solid total power output of 887 hp. With this abundance of power under the hood, the 918 Spyder accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, while reaching a staggering top speed of more than 345 km/h.

‘BIG 918’

The 918 in question is production number 241 and originally delivered in the united Kingdom. The car has been spotted several times in London, where it drove around with the license plate “BIG 918. After this, the car was brought to the Netherlands by its current owner and put on the well-known “yellow plates. What makes this particular Porsche 918 so distinctive is the lack of the Weissach package. The Weissach package is composed of weight-saving materials, including carbon fiber. This innovative package made its appearance with the Porsche 918 Spyder and was frequently chosen by enthusiasts. It gives the car an extra rugged and tough look, but some purists feel it makes the car look less graceful.

Why the name 918 Spyder?

The name of the Porsche 918 Spyder comes from the date production started. That was on Sept. 18, 2013. 918 were built, most of which ended up in the United States. The base price there was $847,000. For those who were impatient to get behind the wheel of the Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche offered a special interim solution. Customers who had purchased the 918 Spyder had the unique opportunity to purchase an exclusive variant: the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet 918 Spyder Edition. This special edition combined the performance of the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet with the distinctive style of the 918 Spyder.
