Party in Stuttgart: 100,000th Porsche Taycan rolls off the assembly line
Types of Porsche Taycan
One explanatory factor for the Porsche Taycan ‘s success is that the car is available in several variants. First, there is the choice of a “normal” Taycan, but in addition you also have the Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo. The Cross and Sport Turismo are basically the station wagon versions of the Taycan, with a roofline that slopes slightly less quickly. The Cross Turismo stands a little higher on its wheels, making it just a little tougher.
Whether you choose the Cross Turismo or another version, there is always a choice of powertrains. The Cross Turismo always comes with all-wheel drive, so you can take it on winter sports if necessary. The other two variants are also available with rear-wheel drive.
Sales figures
In the Netherlands, the Porsche Taycan is beginning to catch on: there are now over 1,800 units on Dutch registration plates. The countries where the Porsche Taycan has sold the most are the United States, China and the United Kingdom. In the Netherlands, we see the Taycan most often in gray, black, or silver. However, the Taycan is also available in iconic Porsche colors, such as Rubystar red, River Blue, or Acid green.
Annual figures Porsche
Porsche sold over 300,000 cars in 2021, which was 11% more than in 2020. The car that sold the most was the Macan. Of these, as many as 88,000 were sold. The Taycan reports third in the rankings: 41,296 were sold in 2021, about half the number of Cayennes. That SUV succeeds the Macan, with 88,362 units. The 911 is thus pushed off the podium with the well-selling Taycan, dropping to fourth place. Indeed, in 2021 Porsche sold “only” 38,464 of them. Porsche’s annual sales reached more than 33 billion euros due to good sales, of which they were able to record 5.3 billion euros as profit.
