Jeep Avenger 4Xe is the most fun and rugged Avenger
Jeep Avenger great success
It’s fair to say that Jeep needed the Avenger in Europe. Because thanks to this little Jeep, European sales have had a solid boost. Since its market launch in 2023, more than 90,000 orders have already been written for the Avenger. About 30 percent are 100 percent electric Avengers. There was already a gasoline Avenger, a front-wheel drive hybrid Avenger, a 100% electric Avenger and now a four-wheel drive hybrid Avenger: the Jeep Avenger 4Xe. Power-of-choice, in other words. The customer can choose which powertrain best fits their travel profile.
Powertrain Jeep Avenger 4Xe
The powertrain of the Jeep Avenger 4Xe consists of a 100 kW (136 hp) 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 96 kW (130 hp) and 230 Nm coupling two electric motors of 21 kW (28 hp) each. One electric motor is placed on the front axle and the second is placed on the rear axle. The powertrain is capable of unleashing up to 1,900 Nm on the rear wheels. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 9.5 seconds and the top speed is 194 km/h.
The extra power provides a top speed of 194 km/h (+10 km/h compared to e-Hybrid version) and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. It is 26 kW (36 hp) and 25 Nm more powerful than the front-wheel drive e-Hybrid. A six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission distributes drive forces to all four wheels.
This is how the powertrain works
At low speeds – forward and reverse up to 30 km/h – all four wheels are permanently driven with a 50:50 power distribution. At medium speeds (30 to 90 km/h), the rear axle jumps in only when necessary. Even when the rear wheels are not driven, the electric motor remains connected to the rear wheels. This allows it to quickly step in when circumstances call for it.
With all-wheel drive engaged, torque distribution is matched to the situation, with a ratio of up to 50:50. At speeds above 90 km/h, the Avenger 4xe is always front-wheel-drive and the rear electric motor disconnects from the rear axle. That lowers fuel consumption.
Via Selec-Terrain function, there is a choice of driving modes. In Auto mode, the four-wheel drive engages only when necessary. Position Snow speaks for itself: extra grip in winter. Sand&Mud is tuned for rough surfaces, including modified gear ratios. In Sport, the 4xe powertrain offers its full potential of power and torque, including an e-Boost at the rear wheels. The car can unleash up to 1,900 Nm of torque on the rear axle. And that’s pretty special.
Here’s what’s different about the Jeep Avenger 4Xe
The Jeep Avenger 4xe has yet another improved approach and departure angles, 10 mm more ground clearance – now 210 mm – and can drive through up to 400 mm of water. An exclusive feature of the Avenger 4xe is the Jeep-developed multilink rear suspension. Such a suspension is usually found mostly on larger vehicles and provides extra suspension travel for the rear axle. This in turn provides extra comfort on rough surfaces.
Cosmetic modifications
In terms of design, the Avenger 4Xe is especially striking. Examples include the towing eye, standard roof rails for extra carrying capacity and seats covered in water-resistant material. In addition, for added protection against stains and mud, the seats are treated with a dirt repellent. The fog lights are also slightly higher and placed more at the corners.
New Hood Sticker
The front and rear bumper are made of a color-molded material finished with a scratch-resistant coating. The larger front wheel arches complete the party. Optionally, the Jeep Avenger 4xe features a new Hood Sticker with a functional design. The decal is made of a matte material to prevent unwanted glare from the sun on the hood. So did the Abarth 124 Spider, both new and old.
Special tires
Jeep supplies M+S tires as standard. Optionally available are All Terrain 3MPSF tires for even more grip on challenging terrain. The rims are finished in black, so they retain their aesthetic qualities even after riding in rough terrain.
Order books for the Jeep Avenger 4xe will open in Q4 of 2024.
