Hyundai finally shows high-performance version Ioniq 5 with nearly 600 hp

December 5, 2022

Wish List

Like many car enthusiasts, we have a list of cars we can’t wait for. The BMW M3 Touring, for example, is high on that list. Another good example is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. We already thought the regular Ioniq 5 was special, but the N version seems to be going to be a spectacular car altogether.

Kia EV6 GT

In fact, the fast Ioniq 5 shares its technology with sister brand Kia’s EV6 GT. The GT is the top model in the Kia EV6 lineup. This version sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. It comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 77.4 kWh battery pack. Together, the two performance electric motors produce 584 hp. Although Hyundai is not yet releasing figures, you can assume that the Ioniq 5 N has similar performance up its sleeve.

Teaser

The Kia EV6 GT is about to hit the road in the Netherlands, for the extra fast Ioniq 5 we will have to wait a little longer. To keep us warm, Hyundai posted a video online today showing the Ioniq 5 N briefly between two of the brand’s concept cars: the RN22e and N Vision 74. In addition to a glimpse of the Ioniq 5 N, the video also shows a behind-the-scenes look at Hyundai N, Hyundai’s sports label. So we see how the RN22e and the N Vision 74 – through which Hyundai N aims to connect new technology from motorsports to future N models – were created. Around 07:46 min, the Ioniq 5 comes into view.
