Extreme De Tomaso P900 costs top price
De Tomaso P900
The Tomaso P900 follows in the footsteps of the 2019 unveiled De Tomaso P72 that was inspired by the 1965 De Tomaso P70. However, De Tomaso Automobili now goes a step further when it comes to aerodynamics, as the P900 has rather special styling. All functional, according to its creators. But unique it is.
Atmospheric V12 engine
The P900 hypercar features a 900-horsepower atmospheric V12 engine from the German firm Capricorn. The V12 engine weighs only 220 kilograms, extremely light for an engine of this size. The rev limiter of the twelve-cylinder is not reached until 12,300 rpm. Shifting is done with a sequential transmission from Xtrac that drives only the rear axle.
V10 engine is also possible
By the way, you can also opt for a V10 engine with F1 technology. It can be delivered earlier, as the V12 engine will have to wait until 2024 anyway. The V10 engine comes from a 1997 Benetton B197 F1 car. The ten-cylinder produces 750 horsepower.
For every 1 kilogram 1 hp
To keep the weight as low as possible, the track racer has a carbon-fiber monocoque. All body panels are also made of carbon fiber. Combined with a 900-hp V12 engine and a weight of only 900 kilograms creates the magic horsepower-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower per kilogram. So with V10 engine, you do sacrifice some performance.
