Electric driving: a good time to switch?

February 7, 2024

Electric cars are increasingly dominating the street scene. If you walk down the street, chances are you will see a couple driving or standing. Consequently, they are becoming increasingly popular and more and more people are now really daring to make the switch. Yet there are also many critics. People who think primarily in challenges. Not yet daring to see the benefits of electric driving. Yet we also believe that eventually we will all have to face it. Electric driving is the future. But also makes it better to make the switch ahead of time in 2024? Maybe so. In this article, we’ll give you some good reasons.

Cabinet makes electric driving increasingly attractive

The government is doing everything possible to meet the 2030 climate goals. Electric driving plays an important role in this. That’s why they are doing everything they can to make electric driving more attractive. For example, by explosively growing the number of public charging stations in the coming years. After all, the more people drive electric, the better the infrastructure must be adapted to it. We are well on our way, but there are still gains to be made. Chances are there is already a charging station nearby, but there should be many more when everyone switches to electric driving.

It has also already been determined that no CO2 emitting passenger vehicles will be allowed to be sold in the Netherlands from 2030. Environmental zones will also play an important role in our country with zero-emission zones for commercial vehicles. This is expected to keep expanding. So to access all roads in the Netherlands, you will eventually have to make the switch.

Keep in mind that currently there are still a lot of advantages for people who start driving electric. Just think of tax breaks the government has come up with to make electric driving more interesting. Eventually, when we can no longer do otherwise, these benefits will probably disappear. Anno 2024, however, you can still make excellent use of this. So plenty of reason to switch sooner.

Do your part for the environment

Switching to electric driving also means doing your part for the environment. Something more and more people are beginning to find important. After all, we can all see how rapidly the world around us is changing. Climate change has never been felt so clearly. Something must be done, it is clear. If we do nothing, the world cannot continue to exist as we know it. Not for us and not for future generations. We want to preserve the world for our children and (great) grandchildren. Every little bit helps. Of course, not driving a car at all is best for the environment. But that is not always possible. At least then electric driving is a much more sustainable option than fossil fuel driving.
