Drako Dragon, the world’s first hyper-SUV

November 18, 2022

Extremely fast, such a Drako Dragon

The Drako Dragon weighs 2,254 kilograms, hence the need for peekaways to give the SUV menace impressive sprint figures. The Dragon has four electric motors that combine to produce 2,000 horsepower. The sprint from 0 to 96 mph takes 1.9 seconds and the top speed comes out to 322 mph.

Faster than Tesla Model X Plaid

Drako’s mission is clear: to knock off the 1,020-horsepower Tesla Model X Plaid as the world’s fastest mass-produced electric SUV. The Tesla takes 2.5 seconds to sprint from 0 to 96 mph. Of course, we want to see it first, because the Model X is already a reality. This Drako Dragon not yet, except for a prototype.

17.1-inch display!

The hyper-SUV was designed by Lowie Vermeersch and his GranStudio team from Italy. This name probably won’t mean anything to you, but the Belgian has worked for Italy’s Pininfarina. At Pininfarina, he collaborated on the design of the Ferrari California. The Belgian draughtsman has since gone into business for himself and is the founder of Italian design house GranStudio. The Dragon has two substantial gullwing doors, 23-inch alloy wheels, smart aerodynamics and very rich equipment. In the interior, then, we detect a hefty 17.1-inch infotainment display, two side cameras and two hefty tablets placed behind the front seats.

Range Drako Dragon

The car is based on a carbon fiber structure. The battery of unknown capacity is concealed in the bottom floor to create a low center of gravity. On paper, the model should be able to reach 676 kilometers on a full battery charge. Fast charging is possible, up to 500 kW.

Riding modes

Ground clearance depends on the driving mode selected. In Tarmac mode it is 163 mm, in Cruise it is 213 mm and in Overland even 315 mm. Carbon ceramic brake discs of 420 mm front and 410 mm rear should force the hyper-SUV to stop.
