Upgrade electric Opel Corsa-e follows sooner than you think
Upgrade Opel Corsa-e
Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel/Vauxhall since this year, revealed during an interview with AutoRAI.nl in the Netherlands that the introduction of the updated Opel Corsa-e is scheduled for early January 2023. “We will announce all the details soon, but there is no doubt that the Corsa-e will get an upgrade,” the top executive told AutoRAI.nl.
Technology derived from Peugeot e-308
Opel equips the electric Corsa-e model year 2023 with the same battery technology as the Peugeot e-208. The electric motor also gets an upgrade. The technology comes from the Peugeot e-308. The Opel Astra-e that will appear in 2023 will get the same technology.
156 hp, a 15 percent increase
The Corsa-e’s engine power increases by 15%, from 136 hp to 156 hp, thanks to the upgrades. The updated Corsa-e is also more energy-efficient, bringing average consumption to around 12 kWh/100 km. Count on an action radius increase of about 11 percent. As a result, the range increases by just under 40 kilometers to about 400 kilometers. Full details of the electric Opel Corsa-s 2023 model year will be announced soon by Opel.
Opel Corsa celebrates 40 years
The Opel Corsa will be 40 years old in 2022. Six generations have already appeared. Since 1982, Opel has sold more than 14 million units. A 40-year version of the Corsa also appeared, but that version was not delivered on Dutch soil.
B-segment remains important
Given the Corsa’s success, top executive Huettl is happy to stay true to the B-segment. “That’s where our heart lies. The Corsa is the foundation of Opel. For this reason, we also remain true to the B-segment. If you make sure you can keep a car of about 4.10 meters economically interesting, this segment will remain very relevant, Huettl said.
More future plans from Opel
The Opel Insignia does wave goodbye to Opel. Demand in that segment has fallen sharply. There will be a replacement, but it will have more crossovers. Opel is also working on other alternatives. Consider a new all-electric Opel Manta. That will be an SUV coupe. Huettl: “I’ve already been able to see him as a clay model recently and I’m impressed. That will really be something special. I would love to show him, but that is not yet possible. So just a little more patience.” The electric Manta is expected to hit the market in 2025. By then, Opel is also expected to have presented the successors to the Grandland and Crossland. From 2028, Opel will sell only all-electric cars in Europe.
