Toyota RAV4 GR Sport, if things can get a little sportier

October 20, 2022

Various GR Sport models

Following the successful introduction of GR Sport versions in other model ranges, including the Yaris, Yaris Cross, Corolla, C-HR and Hilux, a GR Sport variant of the Toyota RAV4 now appears. This makes the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport the sixth GR Sport model variant.

High gloss black

The focus is on a sportier look, but the chassis is also being modified. In addition to 19-inch alloy wheels, the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport features a high-gloss black finish for the wheel arches, window moldings and trim under the rear window. The black G-mesh pattern for the grille and fog lamp housing give the RAV4 GR Sport a distinctive look.

The car’s front spoiler also shows immediately which powertrain it is dealing with: the Hybrid has a dark silver front spoiler, while that of the Plug-in Hybrid is painted in “gunmetal gray. A subtle GR badge on the front and rear completes the look.

Interior RAV4 GR Sport

In the interior, we detect front sport seats covered in luxurious suede-effect upholstery and synthetic leather – both animal-free materials. GR logos are incorporated into the headrests, and silver stitching provides the necessary contrast. This silver stitching is also used in the steering wheel and gearshift. Gunmetal details in the doors and steering wheel complete the GR Sport version of this Toyota.

Sportier chassis

It doesn’t just stop at sporty looks. The RAV4 GR Sport gets further suspension improvements. New, stiffer springs and shock absorber settings should give the RAV4 GR Sport better handling.

The new GR Sport version of the RAV4 will be available from mid-2023 as a Hybrid and as a Plug-in Hybrid and will always feature AWD-i intelligent all-wheel drive. Prices will follow over the course of next year.
