Toyota GR86 no longer available in the Netherlands

September 1, 2023

Sold out

“Since August 2023, the Toyota GR86 has been sold out,” said Toyota spokesman Wouter Spanjaart in conversation with AutoRAI.nl. So, unfortunately, ordering a new one is no longer possible.

European General Safety Regulation

The Toyota GR86 would only be available in Europe for a short time anyway, as the car no longer meets regulatory requirements as of July 6, 2024. Not that the GR86 is unsafe. Quite the contrary, in fact. No, this has everything to do with new requirements of the European General Safety Regulation.

As of July 6, 2024, systems such as Lane Keeping Assist with emergency braking and a so-called black box are mandatory. The Toyota GR86 cannot meet those requirements for production reasons. “All production spots until then have been allocated, so the GR86 order books are closed,” Spanjaart continued. “There are still used cars for sale, so if enthusiasts still want them – relatively – new, they can.”

Toyota GR86 about 1 year on the Dutch market

The Toyota GR86 appeared on the Dutch market in the second half of 2022. So the sports coupe was only delivered in the Netherlands for a short time. The car had a starting price of 58,995 euros during its market launch in 2022. The GR86’s recipe appeals mostly to enthusiasts: rear-wheel drive, a high-revving 2.4-liter boxer engine with 173 kW (235 hp) and 250 Nm of torque and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
