Thorough facelift for popular Renault Captur: in detail!

April 4, 2024

Design Renault Captur 2024

What stands out about the updated Renault Captur? First of all, look at the new front. The new front end has a more technological look. The new Nouvel’R logo stands out, as well as the higher and flatter hood. For engine cooling, the front features horizontal air intakes – one above the aerodynamic splitter and one in the bumper. Two air intakes on either side of the front, next to the daytime running lights, contribute to aerodynamics and cooling of the front brakes.

New light signature

The new headlights come standard with Full LED technology on all trim levels. As with the new Renault Clio, the LED daytime running lights have a half-diamond shape inspired by the brand logo. The headlights come alive in a new welcome sequence as soon as the driver remotely unlocks the doors. The taillight units are now transparent, revealing their insides.

Three options depending on the version

The evolution version features 17-inch Flexwheel wheel trims (17-inch alloy wheels available as an option) with finishing details in matte black on the lower part of the body and along the waistline, and black skidplates front and rear.

The higher trim level, techno, features newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels and a High Gloss Black finish on the lower part of the body and along the waistline. The new version esprit Alpine is instantly recognizable with its ice black logos, noir grand brilliant-high-gloss black window frames, 19-inch wheels of specific design and size, aerodynamic splitter and front and rear skidplates in gris schiste mat finish.

Two-tone body with new colors

Six body colors are available: blanc nacré, gris cassiopée, noir étoilé, gris rafale, bleu iron and rouge flamme. A popular, optional two-tone body is available with a choice of gris highland, noir étoilé and grège perle colors for the roof and exterior mirrors. The latter color is a new champagne color, which by the way is not available for the esprit Alpine.

A wide range of new exterior accessories

The new Renault Captur can be personalized with a wide range of accessories that are available to order or retrofit, such as side lights, running boards, a tow bar, a bicycle rack and illuminated entry strips.

The new Renault Captur is equipped with the OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google functions (depending on the version). It contains leading technology thanks to Android Automotive 12: a world first in the B-segment.

At the center of the main console, the new vertical 10.4-inch touchscreen (960 x 1,280 pixels) lets users take full advantage of exclusive interactive content, along with a wide range of services.

OpenR Link makes every trip easier. The highly connected system is easy to use, as intuitive as a smartphone. In addition to being fully customizable, the interface is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for (wireless) smartphone connectivity. Google services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and more than fifty (depending on country) Google Play apps can be accessed with a fingerprint, just like on a smartphone.

Interior

New upholstery and a new esprit Alpine version

The interior atmosphere is immediately modern and inviting thanks to all-new upholstery. The gray and heather gray fabric in the evolution version gets yellow top stitching in the techno version, with a Renault diamond pattern (¾ view) on the inside of the front seat side cheeks.

The new esprit Alpine trim has a fabric with grained texture on the seats and door panels and a blue-gray insert on the dashboard.

The interior also makes many nods to the Alpine brand, symbol of sporty elegance at its French best, with the national flag on the side of the seat, seat belts with blue top stitching, aluminum sport pedals, branded boarding strips and a special steering wheel.

Interior space

Rear passenger knee space remains one of the best on the market at 221 mm thanks to the rear seat that can slide back more than 16 cm. This clever feature has become the hallmark of the Renault Captur. This allows users to create more space for luggage or passengers as needed. The interior includes a total of 24.7 liters of storage space, including a 7-liter glove box and, depending on the version, map pockets on the back of the front seats.

Modular cargo area

In terms of luggage space, the new Renault Captur is among the best on the market, with a maximum volume of 616 liters when the rear seats are fully pushed forward (a gain of 132 liters).

The luggage compartment is modular, with the rear seat sliding more than 16 cm and a removable floor that creates a flat space. With the rear seats folded down (60/40), the length of the cargo floor is 1.57 meters.

No leather and chrome

In addition to limiting the use of chrome, Renault is also replacing leather with upholstery with a grained texture. This confirms Renault’s commitment to using no materials of animal origin by 2025.

In the new Captur, all upholstery consists of recycled fabrics selected for their small ecological footprint, without compromising perceived quality, feel or comfort. The upholstery in the esprit Alpine contains more than 26% recycled and recyclable fabrics thanks to the use of bio-based materials, such as the grained upholstery materials and hemp.

A complete offer

The new Renault Captur is equipped with new multimedia screens of up to 10.25 inches (24 x 9 cm), depending on the version. This size is compatible with the Navigation option, which offers a driver-facing color display on the instrument panel.

For optimal listening pleasure – depending on the trim level – a Harman Kardon audio system is available with nine speakers (two tweeters and two woofers in the front and rear and a subwoofer in the luggage compartment). The system offers an immersive sound experience and includes five programs created especially for Renault by Jean-Michel Jarre: Studio, Podcast, Concert, Immersion and Club.

The interior is illuminated by a glass sunroof – an option from the techno version onward. For digital in-car entertainment, front passengers have standard access to two USB-C ports and a 12-volt outlet (also in the luggage compartment). Depending on the trim, two additional USB-C ports are available behind the rear center armrest, along with an induction charger in the center console. The latter feature is standard in the techno and esprit Alpine.

Interiors

MULTI-SENSE settings can be accessed via the central display or the button on the steering wheel. Users can choose from four views for the digital instrument panel, five widgets (interactive apps or thumbnails), eight colors for the speedometer display and 48 colors for the LED “Living Lights” ambient lighting strips on the door panels.

To create a more relaxing atmosphere, the color of the lighting is automatically adjusted every half hour based on the circadian cycle (24-hour biological clock) and the time of day (cool colors during the day, warm colors at night).

Engines Renault Captur

The new Renault Captur is available with a choice of four engine variants:

Gasoline:
– 1.0 TCe 90 three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 66 kW (90 hp), 160 Nm of torque and a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.9 l/100 km.

– 1.3 TCe 160 turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 12V mild-hybrid technology, 118 kW (160 hp), 270 Nm of torque and EDC automatic transmission. Fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.9 l/100 km.

LPG:
– 1.0 TCe 100 three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 74 kW (100 hp), 160 Nm of torque (170 Nm with LPG) and a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption: 6.0 – 6.1 l/100 km (gasoline) and 7.7 – 7.9 l/100 km (LPG).

E-Tech full hybrid:
– 1.6-liter four-cylinder with intelligent “dog clutch” gearbox, 107 kW (145 hp) and 205 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption: 4.7 – 4.9 l/100 km.

Suspension

The new Renault Captur is equipped with a MacPherson front suspension and a semi-rigid rear axle. For more dynamic handling, engineers revised the suspension geometry and force-speed characteristics of the shock absorbers, as well as the calibration of the power steering. The mild hybrid 160 EDC and E-Tech full hybrid 145 received all-new shock absorbers. All the changes provide better control over body motion, resulting in quicker reactions and significantly more driving pleasure.

The Captur esprit Alpine comes with special wheels and all-new 19-inch tires (Michelin 225/45 R19), available for the first time on the Captur.
