This Mercedes-Benz G-Class has tracks
Delta 4×4
Delta 4×4 we know as a company of many crazy projects. The company was founded in 1980, after setting an ambitious goal of competing in the Paris-Dakar Rally. A car was purchased and prepared for what many consider the toughest rally adventure in the world. Delta 4×4 discovered that there was also a living to be made from preparing rally cars. The company has already embellished hundreds of cars. Now Delta 4×4 is coming out with a G-Class with tracks, how cool!
Swiss Alps
“Is that really necessary?” we hear you thinking. Maybe not quite, but fun it is! The owner of the G-Class owns a large car company in Switzerland and probably has nothing to complain about financially. He lives at about 3,000 meters above sea level in one of the roughest parts of the Alps. Then, of course, a G-Class with tracks comes in handy. This just goes to show that you can solve many of your (luxury) problems with a lot of money.
What about in the summer?
In order for the tracks to fit under the G-Class, some space had to be made. Thus, the Mercedes-Benz now stands 20 cm higher than normal. The cost of the tracks including installation work is hefty. In fact, Delta 4×4 is asking 100, 000 euros to make and install the tracks. This then fortunately includes making the whole thing street legal. That alone costs 50,000 euros. Normal tires are available for summer, which cost 20,000 euros including the roof rack and bullbar. Raising the car to fit the tracks will cost another 19,000 euros. Maybe try a set of good winter tires to get on top anyway?
