This is the electric MINI Countryman: all the details!
Minimalist design
The new MINI Countryman is taller and longer than its predecessor. The height has grown by six inches and the length by thirteen inches. The new MINI Countryman is now 4,433 mm long, 1,843 mm wide and 1,656 mm high. The design is an evolution from its predecessor. Especially striking is the minimalist design. The drag coefficient comes out to 0.26 for the all-electric MINI Countryman, exceptionally low.
The upright new Matrix LED taillights highlight the rear of the car. These taillights can show different graphics, as can the headlights for that matter. This feature also applies to the new MINI 3-door. A special “welcome” and “goodbye” light animation appears when boarding and exiting.
Powertrain electric MINI Countryman E and SE
The 150 kW/204 hp electric motor in the MINI Countryman E generates 250 Nm of torque, good for a 0-100 time of 8.6 seconds. There will also be a four-wheel-drive MINI Countryman SE ALL4. That one has two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle. Together they account for an output of 230 kW/313 hp and 494 Nm of torque. The 0-100 sprint is impressive at 5.6 seconds. The maximum driving range with full battery according to the WLTP test cycle is 462 kilometers for the MINI Countryman E and 433 kilometers for the MINI Cooper SE ALL4.

The Countryman’s battery can be charged with alternating current (AC) with a charging capacity of up to 22 kW. Fast charging with direct current (DC) goes up to 130 kW for both all-electric models. That means the battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Gasoline versions as well
There will also be gasoline versions. MINI Countryman C has front-wheel drive and the MINI Countryman S ALL4 four-wheel drive, as does the MINI Countryman JCW, which also provides extra power. Details of those gasoline versions will not follow until later. The EV variant kicks off now.
Wheels
The 19-inch and 20-inch wheels can be fitted with sport tires. Aerodynamically optimized 17-inch wheels improve the range of the all-electric MINI Countryman. Wheels are available from 18- to 20-inch. With the diameter of the tires increased by 30 mm (710 mm total), MINI says the new Countryman is even firmer on the road, with more comfort and dynamics. The tires on the 19- and 20-inch wheels are 20 mm wider (245 mm).
Interior MINI Countryman, also nice and minimalist
Like the MINI 3-door, the interior of the new MINI Countryman is also particularly minimalist. The dashboard and door panels are covered with recycled fabric with a special 2D weave structure.
MINI Experience Modes
The car has eight MINI Experience Modes. All eight have their own interior light projection, matching designs, driving settings and sound. In Personal mode, for example, a personalized background image can be set via the MINI App. The color of the lighting and projections is then automatically adjusted accordingly. In Vivid mode, the colors are based on the album of music currently playing. In addition, Core, Green, Timeless and Balance modes are available based on mood and personal needs. Trail mode focuses on the driver’s adventurous side and is unique to the MINI Countryman.
OLED display
A striking feature is the large 24-centimeter round central OLED display. The display provides access to the MINI Operating System 9 with beautiful graphics. The multifunction steering wheel stands out for its two-spoke design with optional fabric strip instead of the classic lower spoke. In the MINI Countryman, the vents have a different, more vertical shape than in the MINI Cooper. Combined with the tinted glass panoramic roof and the clear, reduced shape of the front seats and rear seats, a particularly light and spacious ambience has been created.
More interior space
The new MINI Countryman offers nearly three inches more shoulder and elbow room in the front, and 2.5 inches more in the rear. Between the front seats, the wide, adjustable central armrest increases seating comfort. The optional panoramic roof can be opened halfway and brings light into the interior. Sport seats are available in regular and a JCW version and optional with electric adjustment with memory function. A massage function is also available with the electrically adjustable seats.
Luggage space
The three rear seats can be moved 13 centimeters and the backrests can be adjusted to an angle of 12 degrees. When the seats are folded down, the luggage compartment increases from 450 liters to a maximum of 1,530 liters, depending on the engine version chosen. Charging accessories for the all-electric MINI Countryman are stored in the bottom of the luggage compartment. An electrically retractable tow bar with towing capacity of up to 1,200 kilograms is available as an option.
Specifications MINI Countryman
MINI delivers the new Countryman as Essential, Classic, Favoured and as JCW. So four versions in all. The Essential Trim includes black sport seats with multi-colored textiles reflected on the dashboard. Certain functional components on the interior and exterior are highlighted with the new accent color Vibrant Silver.
Classic Trim
Starting with the Classic Trim, a three-spoke steering wheel with fabric in place of the six o’clock spoke is standard. MINI here uses modern 2D-woven recycled polyester in the interior for the first time for the two-tone dashboard and door trim. The black-blue textile contrasts with the synthetic leather upholstery (Vescin), which is available in perforated gray and black with blue sides.
Favoured Trim
The Favoured Trim is the most expressive variety. The finish in Dark Petrol on the dashboard extends to the door panels in soft woven brown fabric. Sport seats with accent stitching and embroidered MINI logo are available in three colors. The perforated dark or light synthetic Vescin leather adds an extra premium look.
JCW Trim
The John Cooper Works (JCW) Trim emphasizes the sporty aspect of the new MINI Countryman, with a striking design at the front and rear. The grille surround and logo are finished in high-gloss black and the Bonnet Stripes in red and black. The roof and C-pillar contrast in sporty Chili Red, and an optional JCW logo further emphasizes driving dynamics. The JCW Trim also features sport seats with extra lumbar support, multi-colored textiles and black synthetic leather with red stitching to match the dashboard and door panels.
Driver assistance systems
The new Countryman is equipped with Active Cruise Control and Steering and Lane Assistant. The optional enhanced Driving Assistant Professional includes Level 2 assistance systems for partially autonomous driving for the first time in this generation of the MINI Countryman. With the sensors, the MINI detects if there is room to change lanes. At speeds up to 60 mph, the driver can now even take his or her hands off the wheel, provided he or she remains attentive to the situation. The Assisted View on the circular OLED display visualizes all these functions.
The new Trailer Assistant helps when reversing and maneuvering in a parking space with a trailer. Thanks to 12 sensors and four Surround View cameras, the new MINI Countryman can also better recognize empty parking spaces and park independently. The optional Parking Assistant Professional allows the MINI to park out remotely via smartphone with the new Remote Parking feature.
New MINI Countryman also a bit sustainable?
All chrome trim elements inside and out are gone, and the alloy wheels are made with up to 70% recycled aluminum. Also because of the use of green electricity for production, CO2 emissions have been reduced compared to traditional manufacturing. There are also no rare earths incorporated into the electric motors. The surfaces, door panels, flooring and mats are made of recycled polyester. This colorful alternative to traditional materials further curbs CO2 emissions in the value chain and provides lower water consumption than processing cotton.
In April 2024, the third member will join the new MINI family: the MINI Aceman, the crossover in the premium compact segment.
