The Opel Frontera is an affordable SUV for large families
Everyone an EV
During the unveiling of the Frontera, the brand already promised us that the electric SUV would have a friendly price tag. That turns out not to be a lie. The German automaker today announced the prices of the electric variant of the Frontera: 30,499 euros. The order books opened immediately. Pricing for the Hybrid variant will also be announced soon.
The Frontera you say?
The Frontera is a brand-new SUV from Opel. It comes out in the B-segment and is therefore relatively compact. Still, Opel managed to put seven seats in it. By default, you get five seats. The luggage compartment measures 450 liters and can be expanded to 1,594 liters with the rear seats folded down. A double cargo floor is standard. Is there any more luggage to carry? Then you can opt for the optional roof rails. Fancy camping? There will be a roof tent with ladder designed specifically for the SUV. The German SUV can carry up to 240 kilograms on its roof.
Electric Frontera
The electric variant will travel 310 to 400 kilometers, depending on the version chosen. Prefer gasoline? Might as well. The Frontera Hybrid with 48V hybrid technology is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developed specifically for hybrid driving. The gasoline engine works in conjunction with a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and an electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission, significantly reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to a conventionally powered model.
Large displays in interiors
The interior features the all-digital Pure Panel cockpit with two 10-inch displays and a Multimedia infotainment system. The newly designed Opel steering wheel also immediately catches the eye. In the basic version, you get a phone holder and use your phone as an infotainment screen. There is a special app that you can use as the control panel for the car’s infotainment.
Chairs
Comfortable seats should not be missing in an Opel, of course. There are new “Intelli-Seat” front seats. These feature a cutout that, according to the brand, reduces pressure on the tailbone and therefore provide great comfort even on long highway rides.
