The black swan of Indian
The creation goes by the name Indian FTR Black Swan by Workhorse Speed Shop. The company, which has elevated its own construction to an art form, has previously presented an FTR in AMA racing style and colors. The Black Swan is based on this.
Watch party on two wheels
The new creation is primarily a viewing feast with first-class components. In fact, only the FTR engine is purely Indian. Wheels, swingarm, tank, saddle and cockpit are all designed and developed by Workhorse in collaboration with some partners.
Superbikes as inspiration
For the design, the makers were inspired by superbikes from the 1990s and GP racers. The Akrapovič exhaust has been specially developed for this motorcycle. The tank, seat and cockpit are designed using computer aided design technology. Vinco Racing Engineering is characterized by the milled aluminum components. You will also see many unpainted carbon parts, all of which are specifically designed for the motorcycle. According to the makers, the fairing and panels together weigh no more than 1.8 kg.
Headlights behind panels
Also check out the remarkable headlight, which once turned off is hidden behind panels that open and close like eyelids by electric motors. Furthermore, the swingarm is unique to the Black Swan. It is extra long as a nod to a drag racer and made of aluminum. The Öhlins rear shock with piggyback is also specifically designed for this Indian. So are Beringer’s brakes and Rotobox’s carbon wheels.
Alcantara in cockpit
Finishing touches include the Machine Seats seat and cockpit in Alcantara, inspired by a super sports car dashboard. What does it cost? The makers do not (yet) name a price, but the creation arouses desire and if enough buyers present themselves, Workhorse will certainly build copies for customers.
