Successor Lexus LFA comes in two flavors
Electric and twin-turbo V8 hybrid
Lexus’ new sports car is set for 2025. An electric powertrain was initially mentioned, but since not all markets are waiting for such a powertrain yet, Lexus is working on an alternative: a twin-turbo V8. So Lexus’ new sports car will come in two flavors: all-electric and twinturbo V8 (hybrid). The car will be built on the Toyota Group’s TNGA-L platform.
700 hp
Specifications of the electric variant are not yet known. Some details of the twinturbo V8 variant have been revealed by insiders. This would include a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine coupled to an electric motor. System power would come out to 700 hp. The electric version would get solid-state batteries, but nothing is yet known about a system output or range.
Lexus Electrified Sport concept
Lexus’ new sports car will closely resemble the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept unveiled in December 2021. This Electrified Sport Concept presented Lexus’ vision of a future all-electric high-performance sports car. The car should play the role of technological signpost for Lexus’ electrified future. Lexus explicitly speaks of a “sportscar” and not a supercar. The circulation of Lexus’ new sports car is not expected to be limited so that as many enthusiasts as possible can get their hands on one. The Lexus LFA was limited to five hundred units.
