Successor Fiat Panda gets features of Centoventi

July 6, 2023

Source of inspiration

The Fiat Centoventi project seemed to have quietly faded into the background after its 2019 presentation. But nothing could be further from the truth. The study model is the inspiration for the next-generation Fiat Panda, a car also expected to be presented with a 100 percent electric powertrain.

The Fiat Concept Centoventi measures 3.68 meters in length, making it just slightly longer than the outgoing Fiat Panda. Development of the Fiat Concept Centoventi began as early as 2015 under the code name CC4. A striking name, since the current Panda is of the third generation.

Vision of future mobility

With the Centoventi, the Italians showed their vision of future mobility. By producing the car as simply as possible, the Fiat Centoventi can theoretically be offered affordably. This is necessary, as Fiat’s goal is to make electric driving possible for a wider audience. Unique to the study model is the ability to house multiple battery packs.

The Centoventi has room for a total of five batteries with a driving range of 100 km each. By buying additional batteries or temporarily renting them, the range can be increased from 100 to a maximum of 500 km. Whether Fiat will opt for a similar strategy for the new Panda is not yet known.

Personal project

In conversation with AutoRAI.nl, Olivier François, CEO of Fiat, said the following: “The Centoventi is my personal project, so you hit me right in the heart when you ask about the status of this project. I can assure you one thing: we have definitely not forgotten the Centoventi. The car is an inspiration for a future Fiat model. You are going to see many elements back, probably much sooner than you think. Fiat will soon show itself from a different side. So just a little more patience.”
