Sharp rise in number of hydrogen refueling stations
These are hydrogen refueling stations in Europe. There were 45 more in 2022, a 22% increase over 2021. That’s a European record, according to H2stations.org, which tracks and literally maps the arrival of hydrogen stations.
Netherlands in 3rd place with hydrogen refueling stations
Thus, the number of hydrogen refueling stations in Europe is clearly on the rise. Germany leads with 105 gas stations, followed by France (44) and England plus the Netherlands (17), which share third place.
Hydrogen refueling stations worldwide
According to H2stations, there are now 254 public refueling points for hydrogen in Europe. Worldwide, the number is 814. Asia continues to lead with a number of 455, including 165 in Japan, 149 in South Korea and 138 in China.
Growth continues progressively
Progressive growth in the number of hydrogen refueling stations is expected. Last month, for example, TotalEnergies and Air Liquide signed an agreement to build more than 100 stations in France, Germany and the Benelux countries. There are also plans among vehicle makers to establish refueling stations. Mercedes-Benz Trucks, for example, and Hyvia, the French company, which is marketing hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles based on the Renault Trafic and Master.
