Photo report: Supercars 2 – Road vs. Race Edition at Autoworld Brussels
Colorful mix of historic and modern cars at Autoworld Brussels
The big year-end Supercars 2 expo may have the same name as last year’s expo, but this edition is anything but a remake. As many as 50 other special cars are on display at Autoworld Brussels. A motley mix of historic and modern cars, including models permitted on public roads and their racing variants.
Expo Supercars 2 – Road vs Race Edition
The first edition of the Supercars expo was extremely successful with more than 65,000 visitors. According to the museum, the exhibit Supercars 2 – Road vs Race Edition is even more rewarding. All the cars have traveled to Brussels courtesy of private collectors and international museums.
Homologation specials
During the exhibition, you will bump into several homologation specials. These are street cars based on thoroughbred racing cars. These include the BMW M1 in a Procar and a street version, the Lamborghini Supertrofeo and the road version and so on. There is also a platform that puts all the spotlight on Ferrari in honor of the brand’s 75th anniversary. Another platform is dedicated to Super Sedans. Who remembers the first version of the Audi RS2 or the Lancia Thema Ferrari 8.32?
Some examples
There is much more like this. From a Mercedes C111 to a Porsche 935 sports car from the 1970s (driven by Jacky Ickx) and its sister, the 935-2019 built on the same base five decades later. Also present are the Tomaso Deauville and Citroën SM Opera, as well as the 2020 Touring Superleggera Aero 3 or the Aston Martin Speedster and the Kimera Evo 037. In short: delicious stuff!
