Notorious Norwegian speeding driver almost drives ‘300’ and must now mop up for 1.5 years
Big fish
When Norwegian police caught sight of a motorcyclist who was undeniably speeding at the time last May and subsequently stopped him, little did they know that a big fish had been caught among speeders. Thanks to recordings made using a camera mounted on his motorcycle, the caught speeding driver was eventually caught. And how!
Gigabytes of incontrovertible evidence
An extensive collection of visual material provided more than enough evidence that one was dealing with a notorious speeding driver. For some time now, the motorcycle mouse has made it his own sport to reach extreme speeds where it is not allowed and is life-threatening. The recordings were made between July 2020 and May 2021.
Almost three times as hard
For the case, authorities handled only the most extreme video recordings. Those alone counted 56 serious traffic violations. The highlight was a 292 km/h mad dash through a tunnel, where a maximum of 80 km/h is allowed. Another video recording shows the motorcyclist driving 210 km/h where “60” is allowed. All this on a 2016 BMW S1000 RR.
Never hum again
Needless to say, the court was not tender in its judgment. The 31-year-old motorcyclist was sentenced to 18 months in prison and a lifetime driving ban. Meanwhile, the perpetrator continues to claim that he is aware of no wrongdoing, and that he had lent the bike. Indeed, the footage does not show who the actual driver is, but the judge did not go along with this. The motorcyclist has let it be known that he will challenge his ruling on appeal.
