Nissan Skyline Nismo: Japanese sports sedan

August 8, 2023

Nissan Skyline Nismo looks familiar?

Does the Nissan Skyline Nismo look familiar to you? That may well be true. In fact, the Nissan Skyline is broadly similar to the Infiniti Q50. Or actually the other way around: the Q50 was based on the Nissan Skyline. It is a popular model in Japan, reason enough for an extra sporty outfitting. The Nissan Skyline Nismo has a sportier design, several Nismo badges, 19-inch Enkei wheels and sticky rubber. The suspension has also been modified so that there is less “roll” when cornering.

With twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine

The twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine kicks it up to 420 hp with as much as 550 Nm of torque in the Nissan Skyline Nismo. Shifting is done with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The car has several driving modes, such as Sport and Sport+. In the interior, Recaro bucket seats and a sportier steering wheel complete the Nismo party.

Homage

Only 1,000 copies see the light of day. According to Nissan, the car is an homage to the 1964 S54A-1 Skyline GT. In the United States, Nissan recently launched the Nissan Z Nismo. Unfortunately, that model is not coming to Europe either. There is no room in Nissan’s Dutch lineup for Nismo. That has to do with CO2 emissions. If there is an electric Nismo model in the future, it will surely be a different story.
