New Kodiaq: sharpened design and PHEV powertrain

October 5, 2023

New Skoda Kodiaq

After six years, there is a completely new generation of Kodiaq. The newcomer has grown. It is now 4.76 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and 1.66 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.79 meters. Like its predecessor, it is available as a five-seater and a seven-seater. In the seven-seat version, passengers now have 1.5 centimeters of extra space above their heads. The five-seat version has a luggage space of 910 liters, which is 75 liters more than before. If you fold down the rear seats, it becomes 2,105 liters, which is 40 liters more than before.

Evolution

The new design is an evolution rather than a revolution. The hexagonal grille, like other elements, is finished in dark chrome. An illuminated grille is optional. All models have standard LED lighting. The interior is spacious and features convenient storage options, including an additional 2.1 liters of storage by moving the automatic’s selector lever to the steering column.

Physical buttons!

In the interior, Skoda bravely opts for physical turn and push buttons. A choice we applaud. There is a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit and a central 10-inch touchscreen, with an optional 13-inch screen and head-up display. DAB+, voice and gesture control and four USB-C connections are standard, along with wireless charging for two smartphones.

Drivetrain

The new Kodiaq is finally available with plug-in hybrid technology. The PHEV version has an electric range of 100 kilometers and can be charged at 11 kW. Fast charging is also possible: up to 50 kW. The seven-seater is available only with mild-hybrid technology and uses a 48-volt starter generator. Both versions have a DSG automatic transmission.

The new Kodiaq is expected on the Dutch market from mid-May. Prices and additional specifications will be announced ahead of market launch.
