Mercedes-Benz EQT in various flavors

With the Concept EQT Marco Polo , Mercedes-Benz previews the new, all-electric, full-size micro camper based on the EQT. The series production version is expected to be presented in the second half of 2023. The EQT with Marco Polo Module will also be launched in the near future: the first, practical motorhome solution for shorter, all-electric camping trips. The regular EQT will soon be available for pre-order at the consumer suggested retail price starting at 47,753 euros (EQT with 90 kW e-motor and standard length).

Dimensions EQT

The standard-length EQT is 4,498 millimeters long, 1,859 millimeters wide and 1,819 millimeters high. The long-wheelbase variant will follow in 2023. Thanks to the low loading threshold of only 561 millimeters high, loading and unloading heavy objects is easier. The sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle each offer an opening 614 millimeters wide and 1,059 millimeters high. The back seat has room for up to three child seats.

Electric motor and battery

Available at market launch is an electric motor with a peak output of 90 kW (122 hp) and maximum torque of 245 Nm. The lithium-ion battery with usable capacity of 45 kWh is located in the bottom plate in front of the rear axle. At work, at home or at public charging stations, the EQT can charge with 22 kW of alternating current (AC). For fast chargers, charging with 80 kW (DC) is possible. The battery can then be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 38 minutes. The EQT’s charging connector is located in the grille below the Mercedes star.

Concept EQT Marco Polo

The Concept EQT Marco Polo is based on the long-wheelbase EQT. This concept version is a concrete preview of the new, all-electric and full-size micro camper currently under development. The Concept EQT Marco Polo can also be equipped with a pop-up roof with a bed. Thanks to the scissor construction, the pop-up roof can be easily lifted with a slight pitch. This means that the Concept EQT Marco Polo has plenty of room in the back to stand upright. The pop-up roof can be opened all around with a zipper at the back. The roof bed measures 1.97 meters by 0.97 meters and has a point-elastic dish spring system.

Folding sleeping accommodation

In the back of the camper is a folding sleeping area measuring 2 meters by 1.15 meters. Integrated into the second row of seats behind the driver’s seat is a unit that contains a recessed washing facility and a 16-liter compressor cooler, also recessed. Directly linked to it is one of the two seats. On the left side, opposite the rear cockpit, another seat has been created. In addition, multiple storage areas for camping accessories are located throughout the interior.

Cooking can be done in two ways

There are two ways to cook in this micro camper, either on an induction cooktop or a gas appliance integrated into a drawer. If you don’t feel like cooking, just order something. Also present: an electrically height-adjustable table. A large number of interior elements can be easily removed by two people in less than five minutes. This means that the all-electric micro camper can also be used as a daily car if necessary. With a height of less than two meters, it can also easily enter and exit all conventional garages, parking garages and car washes.

Solar panel on the roof

Another highlight of the Concept EQT Marco Polo is the solar panel integrated into the pop-up roof. The solar energy can be stored in a removable storage battery, allowing the camper to be self-sufficient for a certain period of time, thus maintaining its range. Thus, the solar panel is solely intended to supply energy to the camper’s battery. The removable storage battery is stored in a drawer in the chair during use and can be easily removed for charging at home or at the campsite. Two other notable features of the electric micro camper are the sun canopy attached to the side of the vehicle and a blackout system for the rear windows, where they can be tinted at the touch of a button. Curtains or shutter systems are thus a thing of the past.

Marco Polo Module

With the flexibly retractable and removable Marco Polo module, which will become available for the new short-wheelbase EQT, among others, Mercedes-Benz is offering a practical solution for basic camping needs in the near future. With the easy-to-install bed and optional kitchenette, the EQT becomes a comfortable camping companion in no time.

The bed unit offers a sleeping area of 2 meters by 1.15 meters. While driving, the bed frame with folded mattress is in the luggage compartment. The back seat can then be used indefinitely. To achieve optimal sleeping comfort, manually attachable window darkening elements and a ventilation grille with insect protection are also part of the standard equipment. Also standard are two window compartments between the C-pillar and D-pillar for smaller items.

Optional kitchenette

The optional kitchen unit is based on a drawer system. It includes a sink with a 12-liter water tank, a 15-liter compressor cooler and a flexible removable gas appliance. The unit also includes drawers for cutlery, dishes and food. The kitchen block can also be ordered in combination with two camping chairs and a table with two different legs. This means it can be placed outside as well as inside, attaching to the center console.

Future Mercedes-Benz Vans

Mercedes-Benz Vans already offers four all-electric models today: the eVito closed van, the eSprinter, the eVito Tourer and the EQV. In the first quarter of 2023, the eCitan will be added. The EQT will also expand the electric portfolio into the small vehicle segment in the near future. When it comes to eCampers, Mercedes-Benz Vans has so far mainly cooperated with classic motorhome partners and especially in the EQV and eVito mid-size vehicle segment. In the near future, however, Mercedes-Benz is betting more on eCampers that are delivered in their entirety ex-factory.
