Jeremy Clarkson fired again over riot – “Amazon quits The Grand Tour”
The Grand Tour
Looks like Clarkson, Hammond and May will have to look for a new employer again. Once again, Jeremy Clarkson is the reason the trio ends up unemployed at home. In 2015, Top Gear and its famous trio ceased to exist because the BBC would not renew Clarkson’s expiring contract. He allegedly punched a Top Gear producer. According to the usually well-informed magazine Variety, even at Amazon Prime they no longer want to work with the 62-year-old Brit.
What is going on?
In late December, Clarkson wrote in his weekly column in The Sun that he hated Megan Markle, the wife of Britain’s Prince Harry, and that he lay in bed “dreaming of the day when she must parade naked through the streets of every city in Britain while the crowd shouts” shame on you!” and throws chunks of excrement at her.”|The day she must parade naked through the streets of every city in Britain while the crowd shouts “shame on you!” and throws chunks of excrement at her.
Game of Thrones
Clarkson was referring to a Game of Thrones scene in which Queen Cersei underwent this treatment. Not all readers realized that – or did, but they just thought it was a disgusting text. Clarkson received buckets of criticism almost immediately. 6,000 complaints were received by the newspaper and more than 60 British politicians demanded action against the high-profile Briton. He quickly apologized online, but that proved not enough. So on Sunday, he posted yet another bill of apology on Instagram.

Amazon Prime
Despite his guilty plea, Amazon Prime wants to stop the two programs Clarkson makes for the streaming service: The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm. Programs already recorded and announced – including two seasons of Clarkson’s Farm and four The Grand Tour specials – will still appear on the service. As of 2024, the shows will no longer be broadcast by Prime Video. So they are done with Clarkson, but not until all the content is made and online. Amazon has not yet responded to Variety’s rumors.
