Jeep Wagoneer S: exclusive sneak preview – AutoRAI TV

June 6, 2024

Jeep Wagoneer S is on STLA Large platform

Within Stellantis, several models will be on the new STLA Large platform. This is possible because the platform is scalable. So the auto group can build multiple models on one platform. This reduces costs and shortens development time. Jeep has the scoop with the Jeep Wagoneer S. More Stellantis brands will follow in the near future.

The Jeep Wagoneer S’s electric powertrain delivers 441 kW (600 hp) of power, more than 800 Nm of torque and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The car uses two electric motors, christened by Jeep as EDMs. These modules combine the electric motor, transmission and power electronics in a compact module. The car features Selec Terrain driving modes, with modes such as Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow and Sand.

More power ‘over the air’?

The Jeep Wagoneer S has a 250 kW (340 hp) electric motor at the front and rear. There are upgrades to increase power via OTA over time. They took that into account in development. Because two 250 kW engines brings the horsepower total to 500 kW (680 hp). So soon 80 hp bonus horsepower? We’ll see!

Range and charging capabilities

On a full charge of electricity, the model can travel over 600 kilometers. The car uses a 100 kWh battery with 400 Volt technology. This allows the car to be charged from 5 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes via a DC fast charger. According to Jeep, it may also be suitable for Vehicle to vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to home (V2H), Vehicle to load (V2L) and Vehicle to grid. V2H in particular is extremely important in the United States because of power lines running above the road. So the car is prepared for all those things. More information on this subject will be announced by Jeep at a later date.

Illuminated grille for Jeep Wagoneer S

The car’s design is quite radical for Jeep. As such, this model marks the starting point of a new design language from Jeep, with the well-known seven-slot grille being reshaped. There are even lights in the grille now. Other nice design details include recessed door handles, integrated rear spoiler on the tailgate and fins at the bottom of the rear bumper. All of which help to improve aerodynamics.

Interior Jeep Wagoneer S

The interior of the car is at least as special as the exterior. Indeed, inside this car is a display of no less than 45-inch, including a 10.25-inch interactive passenger display. The infotainment system runs on Uconnect 5 software, which is Jeep’s latest software. Of course, the system is connected to the Internet so that over-the-air updates are also possible. The car offers 866 liters of luggage space. Like the original 1963 Jeep Wagoneer, the Wagoneer S has a two-spoke steering wheel. The car is completely chrome-free. Jeep opted for a satin finish instead of chrome.

Mood lighting

Jeep also paid close attention to ambient lighting. Jeep uses high-quality materials. The steering wheel features a new Cabo vinyl antibacterial coating, useful for keeping the car clean. The panoramic glass roof consists of two parts.

Driver assistance systems

The audio system is from McIntosh, consisting of nineteen speakers. The total power of the system comes out to 1,160 watts. When it comes to safety, it’s fine, too. The car features Active Driving Assist,Intersection Collision Assist, Drowsy Driver Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition and a Surround View camera.

The Dutch market introduction of the Jeep Wagoneer S is expected to take place in early 2026.
