Jeep Avenger now also available as mild-hybrid
Car of the Year
The Avenger has been in the spotlight for an entire year. In fact, the model was crowned Car of the Year 2023 last year. More than 40,000 copies of the Avenger have already been ordered. For the 2024 model year, Jeep has made several improvements to the Avenger and is introducing a mild hybrid version. This is the Avenger e-Hybrid. It is the third engine variant in the lineup after the all-electric version and the 1.2 gasoline variant.
Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid
The powertrain of the new Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid consists of the 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with 74 kW (100 hp) and 205 Nm of torque. The combustion engine is mated to a six-speed e-DCT6 dual-clutch automatic transmission. The transmission integrates a 21 kW and 55 Nm electric motor, as well as the central transmission module and inverter, which together form a compact and efficient unit. The electric motor is powered by a 48V battery.
In EV mode – which is active at speeds up to 30 mph – the Avenger e-Hybrid can travel up to one kilometer fully electric. To save extra fuel, the gasoline engine also shuts off when the gas pedal is released and on downhill trips.
E-creeping
According to the brand, the electric power also comes in handy for the e-creeping function, which allows a series of short forward movements without throttle input, which is beneficial in situations such as traffic jams (e-queueing). The Avenger e-Hybrid can also be parked 100% electrically (e-parking). The electric motor of the MHEV system not only supports the gasoline engine, but also acts as a generator to charge the 48V battery during braking and coasting.
economical
Under normal driving conditions, the powertrain is designed for optimal fuel economy, resulting in aCO2 reduction of up to 15% compared to an internal combustion engine with automatic transmission. The Avenger e-Hybrid is easily identified by its special badge. Inside, the driver overlooks a 7-inch e-Hybrid cluster with MHEV information such as driving mode, engine status feedback and power meter readings. A 10.25-inch e-Hybrid cluster is optionally available.
Upgrades for model year 2024
Along with the introduction of the Avenger e-Hybrid, Jeep is introducing several upgrades for the Avenger. For example, Jeep is available with the new glass roof: the Open-Air Sky Roof. Also new (and also optional) is the power-adjustable driver’s seat with massage function and leather upholstery. Jeep Avenger (MY2024) available for immediate order from 30,700 euros, the new e-Hybrid from 32,700 euros.
