New parallel twin

What makes the new Suzuki GSX-8S special? As one of the first new Suzukis, it features a new 776cc DOHC four-valve parallel-twin. This is a special power source, as the 270° crankshaft configuration guarantees a smooth ride with an abundance of torque – even in lower rev ranges. In addition, this two-cylinder produces a very pleasant rumble. The engine character and sound is even comparable to that of a V-twin.

Vibrations a thing of the past

The bike also features the Suzuki Cross Balancer system, a new balancing system that contributes to the smoother engine character and also plays a role in the GSX-8S’s nimble handling. The crankshaft mechanism – in which two balance shafts are at a 90° angle – eliminates vibration and contributes to the smooth engine character. Also, this configuration allows the power source to be constructed lighter and more compact.

Power Suzuki GSX-8S

The maximum output of the parallel twin is 82.9 hp and the block has a maximum torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm. A 35 kW variant is also available for A2 license holders. By the way, the machine weighs 202 kilograms, so even the novice motorcyclist can get along well with the Suzuki GSX-8S.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)

Through the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), the character of the new 776 cc parallel-twin is customizable through three driving modes: A (active), B (basic) and C (comfort). Each driving mode delivers the maximum power output. What are the differences? Simple: each mode affects the fine-tuning of throttle response and torque characteristics when accelerating. Position “A” is quite sharp, even on the slightest throttle you get a lot of reaction. In mode “B” you choose the golden mean, as far as we are concerned the finest driving mode. Electronic ride-by-wire throttle control improves control and provides reliable throttle response.

Fine position for hips

The frame geometry of the new Suzuki GSX-8S allows you to position your hips further forward. In this way, the rider can bring his or her body weight forward more easily. This makes the GSX-8S even easier to control and so you can steer it through sharp turns even better. And you notice this in practice. Because from the very first ride, this Suzuki gives you exceptional confidence.
