Is the Ford E-Tourneo Custom the Rolls-Royce among luxury EV vans?
Always equipped with eight seats
The new Ford E-Tourneo Custom is one of four new all-electric Ford Pro models to be introduced in Europe before 2024. It is intended for both individuals and business customers. Whether with standard or extended wheelbase, the E-Tourneo Custom offers seating for up to eight occupants on three rows of seats. The electric MPV has a range of up to 370 kilometers (WLTP). The E-Tourneo Custom will be delivered in late summer 2023.
Powertrain E-Tourneo Custom
Ford’s electric MPV has a 74 kWh battery pack (net/usable) and a 160 kW (218 hp) electric motor. Driving according to the one-pedal-driving principle is possible. An 11 kW AC three-phase on-board charger allows the battery to be fully charged in less than 8 hours. Charging from 15 to 80 percent takes about 41 minutes with a 125 kW DC fast charger. During tests with a 125 kW DC fast charger, nearly 38 km of range was recharged in just five minutes.
Braked trailer weight
The E-Tourneo Custom has a maximum braked trailer weight of 2,000 kilograms. A new, optional fold-away tow bar allows for easy removal of the tow bar when not in use. Independent rear suspension is standard for all versions and provides greater ride comfort, improved handling and greater refinement.
Pro Power Onboard
Pro Power Onboard technology – familiar from the Ford F-150 Lightning – enables the full potential of the E-Tourneo Custom to be utilized. Power outlets with up to 2.3 kW are located in the cabin. Useful for charging digital devices and using tools and sports or camping equipment, for example, when a 220-volt mains connection is not available.
Equipment Ford E-Tourneo Custom
The Ford E-Tourneo Custom has all the conveniences such as adjustable and track-mounted rear seats, power sliding doors, a B&O audio system, digital key cards, a glass panoramic roof and an innovative tilt steering wheel. Some things are standard, while others are optional.
Three rows of seats
The seats can be moved forward or backward over the serrated rails or even removed entirely. The three seats in the second row of seats can slide independently; the third row of seats has a two-to-one split. The seats in the second row of seats have integrated seat belts.
Panoramic glass roof
The Ford E-Tourneo Custom is optionally available with a large panoramic glass roof that provides additional light and space. An infrared-resistant layer in the panoramic roof keeps the interior cool in bright sunlight. The power sliding doors open and close hands-free. This is done by foot movement under the sill.
The new E-Tourneo Custom has optional three-zone electronic climate control, a B&O audio system with 14 speakers and a rear-mounted subwoofer, extensive ambient lighting, a wireless cell phone charger and heatable outer seats for the second row of seats.
Digital Key System
Ford has also developed an innovative Digital Key system, which is expected to be available in 2024. The system uses NFC technology and is inspired by hotel keycards. Thanks to this system, the owner carries a thin and water-resistant card instead of a large key. This is useful for sports, outdoor activities or for companies with multiple drivers sharing one car.
Interior E-Tourneo Custom
The dashboard features a 13-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 infotainment system. The driver overlooks a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are among the standard equipment. The E-Tourneo Custom offers the same tilt steering wheel recently presented for the new E-Transit Custom. The handy and unique steering wheel can be used as an ergonomic holder for laptops and tablets, or even laid flat as a handy table. Ford engineers are moving the passenger airbag from the dashboard to the roof. The glove box now fits a laptop or A4-sized papers.
The E-Tourneo Custom has a wide range of driving assistance systems. Think Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centring, Reverse Brake Assist, Fully Active Park Assist and a 360-degree camera system.
