Is Dacia the new “people’s car”?
Dacia the new Volkswagen?
Dacia seems to have taken on the role of “people’s car” in recent years. By launching affordable models with plenty of interior space and a no-nonsense character, the brand has won the hearts of millions of people. Because let’s face it: not everyone is a car enthusiast. Most people just want a good car to get from A to B, at an affordable price. Dacia knows how to attract both enthusiasts and nonenthusiasts.
Dacia Sandero most popular model
Dacia believes in “keep it simple” and that is paying off, as evidenced by the sales figures. As we look toward 2022, Dacia has every reason to raise the champagne glasses. Of the Dacia Sandero – which is a five-door hatchback with B-segment dimensions and an A-segment price – the brand sold as many as 229,500 units in 2022. It has been the best-selling passenger car to individuals in the European market since 2017.
Dacia Duster
Another Dacia bestseller is the Dacia Duster. Of that car, the brand sold a solid 197,100 units in 2022, up 5.8 percent from 2021. It is the second best-selling passenger car in the private market in Europe and also the best-selling SUV among private individuals since 2018.
Dacia Jogger
Dacia has two more models that have the potential to become bestsellers. Take the new Dacia Jogger. It entered the market in 2022 and has already generated 56,800 orders. It immediately became the second best-selling passenger car in the C-segment (excluding SUVs) in the private market in Europe. A hybrid variant of the Jogger has also been announced: the Dacia Jogger Hybrid.
Dacia Spring Electric
Dacia’s other car is the all-electric Spring. This car – based on the Renault Kwid – appeared in 2021 and has since become the third best-selling 100% electric passenger car on the private market in Europe. By 2022, Dacia sold 48,900 units of the Spring Electric. In early 2023, Dacia introduced the Electric 65 engine variant that is 20 horsepower stronger than the base Spring.
