Iconic Toyota Prius temporarily unavailable in the Netherlands
Cause of problems Toyota Prius
“Due to production capacity problems, the Prius Hybrid and Prius Plug-in Hybrid are temporarily unavailable. As soon as there is more capacity we will start delivering the car again,” said Toyota Netherlands.
Future of Prius unclear
When the problems surrounding the Toyota Prius will be resolved is unknown at this time. Still the auto industry suffers from a shortage of chips and raw materials. As a result, automakers must make choices about which models to prioritize in order to meet as much demand as possible.
Alternatives
For those who cannot wait for a hybrid Toyota, the brand offers alternatives such as the Corolla, C-HR and RAV4, three models that also come as hybrids. Those who want a plug-in hybrid will have to rely on the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid. There are no plug-in hybrids of the Corolla and C-HR.
Fourth-generation Prius
The Prius is one of the Japanese automaker’s best-known models. The car is especially notable for its unusual aerodynamic design and played an important role in the hybrid car success story. What future plans for the Prius are currently unknown. For now, the car brand is fully committed to the new bZ family (bZ stands for Beyond Zero) to which several all-electric models will be added. The Toyota bZ4x is the first. The current Toyota Prius is the fourth generation. The car has been on the European market since 2016.
