Hypercars from Rimac now for sale simply in the Netherlands as well

December 9, 2022

Five brands for Pon Luxury & Performance Cars

Very unusual is not the addition of Rimac to the portfolio of Pon Luxury & Performance Cars. Porsche is the strategic partner and 45% shareholder in the Bugatti-Rimac joint venture established last year. Within that joint venture, Rimac and Bugatti are releasing their own models. In doing so, Rimac focuses entirely on high-performance through electric propulsion. With the addition of Rimac, Pon Luxury & Performance Cars’ portfolio now consists of five brands: in addition to Rimac, they are Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Bentley.

Netherlands a serious market for super- and hypercars

“The Netherlands is now a mature market in terms of e-mobility including the associated infrastructure,” explains Mate Rimac, founder of the eponymous brand. “In addition, the Netherlands is a serious market for super- and hypercars, with a large fan base. For Rimac, these ingredients form an excellent basis for introducing the Rimac brand and the Nevera in the Netherlands now. We are delighted to have with Pon Luxury & Performance Cars a renowned supercar specialist as a partner and official representative of Rimac in the Netherlands.”

Nevera also coming to the Netherlands

Rimac debuts in the Netherlands with the Nevera, the brand’s latest globally homologated hypercar. The Nevera entered production in Croatia in 2021. The first examples of the Rimac Nevera were delivered in 2022. The total print run of 150 copies further underscores the exclusive nature. The first Rimac Nevera on Dutch soil is expected in the second quarter of 2023. The spectacular 1,914 hp and 2,340 Nm Nevera hypercar is the standard-bearer within the Rimac range.

Rimac Nevera is electric hypercar

The name Nevera comes from a powerful Mediterranean storm accompanied by thunder and lightning that can strike unexpectedly on the open sea near Croatia. The Nevera features a carbon-fiber monocoque, a body with active aerodynamics and a fully Rimac-designed electric powertrain with a 120 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-manganese-nickel battery pack and four electric motors. The software is also an in-house development.

Performance Nevera

The system power of the Rimac Nevera is 1,914 hp (1,407 kW). With that, the Nevera accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds. The sprint from 0 to 250 km/h takes only 9.3 seconds, and the top speed is 350 km/h. On special occasions, this can be increased to 410 km/h. Battery charging is also at top speed. With a 350 kW payload, the package can be charged from 0 to 80% in 25 minutes. A 500 kW payload reduces this to 19 minutes. The range according to WLTP is up to 490 km.

Rimac is pronounced ‘ri-matz’

Rimac (pronounced ri-matz) was founded by 34-year-old Croatian Mate Rimac. As a child, Mate already had a passion for cars as well as electronics. In doing so, he was inspired by his compatriot and idol Nikola Tesla. Mate Rimac designed an “electric glove” back in his school days that could replace a computer mouse and keyboard. By the age of 17, he already had two patents to his name.

From Concept_One to Nevera

Two years later, Mate Rimac built an experimental electric powertrain in his own car in a borrowed garage. The result was good for a Guinness World Record: at the time, it was the fastest accelerating electric car. Rimac wanted more: he dreamed of a car designed from the ground up that would be both sensational and sustainable thanks to electric propulsion. With a small team, Mate Rimac developed the Concept_One. With spectacular looks, 1,088 horsepower, smart all-wheel drive and torque vectoring, the 2011 Concept_One was the world’s first electric supercar.

1,700 employees

Rimac also develops electric drive technologies for existing manufacturers. Currently, the Rimac Group has 1,700 employees. Next year, the company will open a new headquarters in Croatia including one of the largest R&D and production facilities in Europe.
