To get straight to the point: the new Honda Civic Type R has a price tag of 78,980 euros in the Netherlands. Rounded up, then, almost 80 grand. An extreme amount, but for an extreme car. Moreover, the Civic Type R is the last of its kind. It is believed to be Honda’s very last hot hatch with a turbocharged gasoline engine.

Lots of power and high top speed for Honda Civic Type R

The specifications are impressive. The 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and drives the front wheels. The 1,996cc K20C1 engine unit produces 329 hp at 6,500 rpm and up to 420 Nm of torque at 2,200 rpm. The 0-100 sprint takes just 5.4 seconds and the top speed is 275 km/h.

So for that nearly 80,000 euros, you also get a genuinely fast hatchback. Room for doubt to buy a copy is unfortunately not there. Production sites are limited, as is production time. So decide quickly.

By the way, the quoted price of 78,980 euros is a price without any options. For 4,000 euros, Honda provides a Carbon Pack. The package includes a carbon spoiler, carbon center console panel and the carbon side sill moldings. The 1,500 euro Illumination Pack is a combination of interior and exterior lighting. It includes: front and under-seat footlights, door trim lighting and a cup holder and console light. A white/red illuminated projector with Type R pattern on the outside completes the party. Including all options, therefore, you will spend 84,480 euros.
