Gemballa Mirage GT: when you think it can’t get any scarier
Made in Stuttgart
Gemballa is a German high-end tuning company known for tuning sports cars of renowned brands such as Porsche and McLaren. Founded in 1981 by Uwe Gemballa, the company began as a small tuning garage in Stuttgart, but quickly grew into a leading company in the tuning industry. Gemballa has a history of designing striking cars that exude power and speed, and has built a reputation for creating unique and powerful vehicles with impressive performance. The German brand’s latest project is the Gemballa Marsien, an off-road version of the 992 Turbo S with design elements of the 959.
Gemballa Mirage GT
Based on the iconic Porsche Carrera GT, the Gemballa Mirage GT is equipped with a 5.7-liter V10 engine capable of producing up to 670 horsepower, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. The Mirage GT – humor, there is also a Mitsubishi by the way with that name – has a top speed of more than 335 mph, making it one of the fastest cars of the era. It is also one of the most dangerous cars ever built. The Carrera GT is equipped with manual transmission. Techniques such as stability control and traction control were not yet present on the Carrera GT, which makes this car very dangerous in inexperienced hands. Thanks to the modifications and improvements made by Gemballa, including a new exhaust and weight reduction, the Mirage GT has impressive handling and offers the driver a unique and exciting driving experience.
Crash
The Gemballa GT is a tremendously rare car. Only 25 were made. Meanwhile, fewer than 25 remain, after car collector Benjamin Chen smashed his copy in New York. The driver of the blue Mirage GT was under the influence and rammed several cars. See the YouTube video below.
