Ford E-Tourneo Courier: SUV and MPV in the mix
BEV ambitions from Ford
“The E-Tourneo Courier is an important part of Ford’s future in Europe that is electric, challenging and adventurous,” said Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford. The Ford E-Tourneo Courier is one of 10 all-electric models Ford plans to offer in Europe by 2024. The brand targets zero emissions for all sales sold in the region by 2035 and is investing $50 billion worldwide through 2026 to achieve an average annual production volume of more than 2 million all-electric vehicles from the end of the same year.
design
“We designed the E-Tourneo Courier to get the most out of every journey, whether you’re taking it on an adventure or transporting construction materials – and the exterior design expresses a real no-nonsense character,” said Amko Leenarts, design director of Ford Europe. “The SUV-inspired design is rugged on the outside and spacious on the inside, while the specific EV design details make it clear that the E-Tourneo Courier is part of the electric revolution at Ford.”
Interior space
The all-electric Ford E-Tourneo Courier is designed to comfortably transport five adults and their luggage. It has a 60-40 split rear seat and offers 44 percent more luggage space than the previous Tourneo Courier. Occupants also benefit from improved shoulder and head room, and have an array of convenient storage spaces at their disposal, ranging from an adjustable center console to a hidden luggage compartment and a 44-liter frunk (front trunk).
Dashboard with hefty displays
At the center of the interior is the striking “digiboard” instrument panel with a fully digital instrument cluster and SYNC 4 infotainment operated through the large, central 12-inch touchscreen. This fully connected Ford features wireless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a wireless phone charger. It is also capable of over-the-air updates.
The powertrain
The 100 kW (136 hp) strong electric motor enables one-pedal driving. There is a choice of Normal, Eco and Slippery driving modes. The E-Tourneo Courier offers both 11 kW AC and 100 kW DC charging options, and charging can be made extra easy with Ford’s proprietary home charging solution with convenient app and scheduling capability to take advantage of potentially cheaper energy rates. A normal overnight AC charging session of 10-100 percent takes 5.7 hours. The E-Tourneo Courier can replenish a range of 87 km in just 10 minutes via a DC fast charger. The battery can charge from 10-80 percent in less than 35 minutes under optimal conditions.
Greetings from Romania
The E-Tourneo Courier will be produced from the second half of 2024 in Craiova, Romania, along with the Puma – Ford’s best-selling passenger car in Europe, which will also be available as an EV by 2024.
