Comprehensive facelift for Kia Sorento
New front end for Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento is one of Kia’s larger SUV models. Recently, the Kia EV9, an all-electric SUV, was added. The redesigned Sorento will be more in line with other Kia models in terms of design. For example, the South Korean automaker applies T-shaped headlights and opts for an even wider grille to emphasize the width of the family SUV. The Kia logo has moved from the grille to the hood.
Backside
Changes to the rear of the Kia Sorento remain limited. We do detect different light units. Of course, the model also gets new colors and wheel designs, just as you would expect with a facelift. New exterior colors include Interstellar Grey, Volcanic S, Brown and Cityscape Green.
Redesigned interior for Kia Sorento
Although the interior remained largely the same as the outgoing type, modifications were made. For example, Kia applies much slimmer vents to make room for the infotainment system’s larger touchscreen. The climate control control unit also gets an upgrade. Whether the fingerprint scanner will also find its way to the European market is not yet known.
Available as a hybrid
Kia delivers the Sorento in the Netherlands as a Hybrid and as a Plug-in Hybrid. Those powertrains probably have not been tinkered with. The Kia Sorento Hybrid 2WD has a 1.6 T-GDi gasoline engine (204 hp), an electric motor (64 kW), a 1.49 kWh battery and a system output of 230 hp. The braked towing weight is 1,650 kilograms.
Or as a plug-in hybrid
The Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid 4WD has a 1.6 T-GDi gasoline engine (204 hp), an electric motor (88 kW) and a battery with a capacity of 13.8 kWh. All the components combine to produce an output of 265 hp. The braked towing weight comes out to 1,500 kilograms.
