Caterham considers models in addition to the Seven
Jannarelly Automotive
Jannarelly is founder of Jannarelly Automotive and joins Caterham on a consulting basis. The British sports car brand has a desire to shape the design language of future products outside the existing Seven model range.
Anthony Jannarelly himself has owned a Caterham Seven for ten years. In addition, he designed the Jannarelly Design-1, a back-to-basics tribute to the sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s.
Career Anthony Jannarelly
The French-born designer began his career in the jewelry market, designing, launching and developing jewelry collections. He then moved on to the world of luxury yachts, furniture design and architecture. From there, he became design director for W Motors, the first manufacturer of high-end luxury sports cars in the Middle East. There he spearheaded the design of the Lykan Hypersport, which was featured in Fast & Furious 7, and the Fenyr Supersport.
Dream Role
Anthony Jannarelly, says, “This is a dream role for me because I understand Caterham’s DNA as a Seven owner and lifelong fan. I ‘get’ the joy that a simple, lightweight, driver-focused sports car can bring. My vision for a future Caterham will explore my retro-futuristic design philosophy. I want to combine the best of both worlds, the elegance and simplicity of the past combined with the proportions and precision details of a modern sports car.”
CEO Caterham speaking
Caterham Chief Executive Officer, Bob Laishley, said, “We are incredibly pleased to have Anthony on board. He understands Caterham as a brand, is a proven sports car designer and shares the vision for the future that I, Kazuho Takahashi and the rest of the VT Holdings board have for the future company. He is a perfect fit for us.”
VT Holdings
VT Holdings – an automotive company headquartered in Japan – bought Caterham in April 2021. The sports car brand is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. VT Holdings’ financial strength allows the brand to invest in the future. In addition, the iconic Seven remains immensely popular. Caterham recently had a new factory built in Dartford, Kent. Caterham’s new production facility is a state-of-the-art building, according to the manufacturer. The building is home not only to the brand, but also to Caterham’s production, engineering, motorsports and commercial teams.
