Kia Soul

The Kia Soul is a model from the American division of the brand. The history of the model is remarkable. Designer Torpey thought about a new type of car and came up with the idea of a boar with a backpack as a result of a documentary. The result was a caricatural sketch of it and the strength and power that that pig radiated was the image that the car was supposed to evoke. Naturally.

Just start up…

The result was the striking first-generation Kia Soul, introduced in 2009. In response to criticism, an update was made to the interior and driving qualities of the car after just one year. After this shaky start, however, the Soul managed to achieve good sales, especially in America’s ‘home market’.

New and electric

The second generation was launched in 2013. That model took a big step forward in both quality and design. New since 2014 is a fully electrically powered version of the Soul. Since then, it has also been the only model of the Soul that is delivered in the Netherlands. At the end of 2018, the third generation Soul was presented, which came on the market at the end of 2019. Without compromising the characteristic original shape of the car, a fresh model is ready again. Of course there is also a fully electric variant of the new one. Its name changes from Soul EV to e-Soul. Under the name e-Soul Cargo there is also an order version for a gray license plate.
