Kia Ceed

In 2006 Kia’s successor for the Cerato appeared. It was the brand’s first fully developed car in Europe and the model is also only sold in our continent. The car had the distinctive name Cee’d. How did that name come about? Kia named the car after its market: the European Economic Community, also referred to as EEC or CEE. European Design was added to this, resulting in CEEED. Because that was a lot of E’s, Kia replaced one of them with an apostrophe. So. The three-door variant went through life as Pro_Cee’d and the station wagon ‘just’ as Cee’d SW.

With the second generation from 2012, Kia positioned the Cee’d slightly higher. For the higher price came a somewhat richer equipment and improved handling characteristics. A new version was the GT for the three-door Pro_Cee’d, with which Kia hoped to compete in the sporty hatchback segment.

In 2018 we were introduced to the current model. In most respects they continued along the same path, but a number of things have changed. The name of the car, for example, or at least its spelling. The apostrophe has now been removed from the name and Pro_Cee’d will be written simply as Proceed. Of all models, the Proceed is the most modified, because it is no longer a three-door hatchback. From now on, the Proceed is also a station wagon variant, but unlike the regular SW, the Proceed has a coupé-like roofline à la Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.
