BYD extends warranty period, also for existing BYD drivers?
Increase in warranty period for BYD
All new BYD passenger car models now come standard with a six-year general warranty and an eight-year warranty on the battery pack and electric motor, including its controls. The body is covered by a 12-year warranty. Do these improved warranty terms apply to everyone who already drives BYD? Yes, the new conditions apply even to models already registered. In addition, the warranty is tied to the car and thus transferable.
For all models
Until now, BYD had different warranty terms for different models. As of now, the BYD Atto 3, Han and Tang benefit from wider deadlines and associated maximum mileage limits. Of course, the yet-to-be-introduced BYD Dolphin and Seal also hitch a ride on the improved warranty terms and conditions.
Six, eight, twelve
All BYD passenger car models now come standard with six years of full factory warranty (was 4 or 5 years) or a maximum mileage of 150,000 (was 120,000 or 100,000). The cobalt- and nickel-free Blade Battery warranty is unchanged at eight years, but the associated maximum mileage has been extended to 200,000 km, SOH ≥70% (was 160,000 km for certain models).
The electric motor and its controls are now covered by an eight-year warranty, with a maximum of 150,000 km guaranteed (was 5 years or 100,000 km for certain models). As of now, the bodywork warranty extends over a 12-year period.
